Fenugreek/Honey and Hot water

    I have been reading alot of this mixing fenugreek with water or honey with water and drinking a glass in the early morning.

    Can anyone of you explain to me as to why you do this?

    Or a logical reasoning for why you think it'll help you lose weight?

    Does anybody know the scientific reasoning behind doing so?

    Dear Chinni86,

    I don't know about fenugreek and water but honey, water and lemon is a natural diuretic hence when taken regularly a slight change in weight is experienced.

    Chinni: to answer your question

    Why honey is better than sugar: The reason is honey also contains sugar but along with minerals and nutrients, whereas sugar is just empty calories. So in the process of digesting sugar,t he body loses the minerals and nutrients. Whereas having honey retains them, hence honey aids in weight loss

    Why honey with warm water is good: Now, there is a myth that having honey with warm water will lose weight. This is incorrect.
    Having honey with warm water during weight loss acts as a catalyst. The function of a catalyst is just to speed up whatever it is associated with.

    Hence eating the right calories and work out is essential

    Now to the question:
    Generally fat gets stored in our body without being utilized. Honey when comes in contact with warm water has this ability to mobilize fats. Again it mobilizes only. This fat when used as energy in our daily routine, causes reduction in weight


    Another useful thing :Honey with Cinnamon.
    Cinnamon is known for its digestive property. Hence having cinnamon, honey in warm water also helps in a weight loss regime

    Wouldn't warm water alone be effective?

    My thinking on this is that the water fills you up, which in turn reduces your craving for foods, which in turn makes you reduce your weight, albeit by a very little amount.

    I didn't do the warm water with honey bit. But I did consume a lot of water day in and day out and found that to be as effective.

    Just a thought, that's all. Curiosity always caught the cat :)

    ofcourse hot water will be effective. It depends on the amount of fat content in one's body
    when I started this weight loss my fat percentage in the body was 41 % which is in obese category. Today it stands at 30-31 %

    So as a kick start honey does aid in increasing the overall metabolism

    In my gym, they have a handheld device which calculates BMI, fat content etc
    I think the weighing machines at the malls also have such facilities
