If its 5gms in weight and gold rate was 1650,
and how much will be the wastage. He put 10% wastage for 5gms. Please help me.

Recently I went to Tanishq, that guy was saying 15% as wastage and no making charges applicable, I was surprised and simply asked them why the drama of free, u have included the making charges also in wastage...he tried to explain me that there would be the variance from 4-15% as wastage charges based on the model and some times extra for KDM.

I don't know how far it is true...

Hi All,

I worked for a jewellery showroom in chennai, so based on my experience, the wastage are fixed by the jewellery showroom only, and also one point is correct , the wastage differs from model to model, means if it is kolkata model they have different %, and so on for all cities, and above all these, the wastage showroom get it from the supplier is only 3 to 7%, and rest all are fixed by these people only. so you can very well bargain the jewellery showroom guy to reduce some more in terms of wastage and making charges. Hope this information is usefull. if not please excuse me.

My wedding jewellery was purchased from Middle east, but Indian designs from Indian shops there. There was no wastage charges at all.Very minimal making charges. moreover it was pure gold. I wonder when jewellery shops in other countries sell without wastage, why not our jewellers.
