Buying Gold Coins In US

Hi ILites,

I have heard that we can buy gold coins in US and when we go to India we can use it to make jewellery. Has anyone purchased gold coins in US. What is the rate of it?

which one is best for our Indian jewellery.
Austrian Philharmonic & Pamp Sussine are in yellowish gold which looks good for jewellery & the rest r in reddish gold.
So can any one clarify my doubt plz..........

I buy American Eagle.I have never done jewellery from the coin.I buy them for investemnt purpose.

I have question regarding buying gold coins in US. would this gold be honoured by jewelers in India ? Also the banks that offer gold coins in India say that they wouldnt buy it back. so gold bought in US, would that be accepted in India.

What are the making charges of this gold coin, so that we know how much would get cut, if we go and sell it.

last time when I went to India we gave our coin in the jewellery shop for making an ornament.
gold biscuit contains 31.2 gms & the jewellery people will add 4 gms of other metal(raagi),so totally we get 35.2gms of gold.or else if we want to sell them,they will give extra 2000/- + gold rate fot the biscuit on that day.

I have purchased Credit Suisse Gold bars and Canadian maple leaf from jewellery store in NJ(Aabhushan).Aabhushan has a branch in Ohio too.I haven't made any jewllery from them but sold to buy a jewellery from GRT.

How far is ajpm reliable?I heard that shipping is not fast and they don't respond by phone and only by emails!!!

I have bought from ajpm, they are reliable. But i got the coin only after 30+(working days), they are really v slow in processing and doesn't encourage calls or mails. Please go thro' the terms and conditions (which change often) before placing an order.

Mangai ,if its not too much to ask,How can Gold coins be an investment.I asked my family jeweler in India ,he said it wudnt make a difference bringing gold coins from US. Also with Gold prices reaching the roof how wud it be an investment.
