How to sell my designs?

Hi friends,

Getting inspiration from the kind of designs you had exhibhited in the forum, I went ahead designed few
earings myself ( attached snaps) which I would like to share with you.
kindly let me know if they are good and saleable. If good, how much can I charge per earings.
Also how should we pack when we give it to the shopkeeper?

the earrings are very good ...

some more ideas to sell ur designs...
in general, upload your photos to a site like picasa and share the link with everybody you know...u can mail it or put it as ur gtalk status or orkut status or even in facebook...this way everyone will come to know that u sell earrings....

u can also start a blog with details for each earring....latest designs etc...
and share the blog link with everyone....

if u r staying in an apartment , u can make a flier about this and stick it on the notice board...u can include ur fone number or mail id on the flier...


again...price also depends on where you stay...

I was a jewellery making teacher and was having my own making unit for over a year. Many of my products were exported, and also sold across stores in chennai. So, I can offer you some suggestions.

1. I had a blog, and it helped as visiting card. You can do that too.
2. Contact schools, beauty parlours and places where women would gather. Show your desgins and ask them to choose.
3. You can also pack and sell in stores. But the response is very varied. The profit margin is very high, though.
4. If you are selling, I would advise you not to teach. Doing both reflects you in a very money minded manner.
5. From my experience - I would only price around Rs. 5 - Rs. 7 per piece for your designs here. A better option would be to experiment with different types of materials.

thank you somuch archana.your informations are very valuable.i want to know some more about marketing. you said that,If we approach a shop keeper,i can ask for Rs 5-7 for these type of ear rings. Then for what price will they sell it?is there any rule of % for it?what will be the maximum amount i can ask?will they give money after selling the product or before?

I mentioned what I would pay as a customer. My pricing was based on my own sense of purchase. If I feel, I can pay 5Rs for this - then that is the price with probably a slight markup. It depends on where you give the product. In some places I gave, I hardly got any profit margin. I gave because it was a assured place to give. In other places, the profits were higher for the same product. Also, there is no fixed rule in terms of % or payment. Mostly, the payment is made only after they receive it - for a beginner!
