I've not worked with beads..but I've seen a lot of beads and related stuff in the Michaels arts and crafts store. If you go there, the people working there can give you an idea about it all.

Jewellery materials costly in US

Hello All,
The jewellery materials and tools look expensive in US.
Is there any way of having them at cheaper rates?

Get some friends in India to send it across. I have my periamma at MD who does jewellery.I send regularly to her, through any friends, relatives who travel by.

Look for deals from Michale's and coupons online...

Yes, it is costly...may be hunt in Craigslist arts & crafts section for used one..i got few tools and beads like that...

Iam visiting India this June and hope to make good purchase for myself.

where do u shop for the spacers in US

hi friends,

when i went thru the collections of most of our friends here, i came to know that along with their creativity the spacers were the cause for the big hit. i mean the gold beads and other beads that will be put in between the jade or corals or the pearls.so where all do u shop for the spacers and the pendants. also what kind of spacer will go good with crystals. thanx in advance.

You can find in any local bead store...though local stores may carry only sterling silver or bali findings (silver metal type or oxidized metal look) which very expensive and $$$ goes by per gram only.
You may want to check with Michaels arts & crafts or Joan fabric shop or any chain arts stores...you can find some coupon in website and buy them.

Your choice on gold or oxidized with jade or coral will mostly depend on what dress you want to wear with...sometimes anitque gold finish spacers looks good for any indian outfit and oxidized metal spacers (bali) will look good for western wears...it can go other way also...

Try simple patterns first with different kind of spacers and you will get idea.

thanx for the reply and your suggestion. have u seen any crystal pendants in any of those stores u mentioned or do u have any idea where i can get those for a reasonable price.

Look for crystal pendants in Michales or Joan fabirc shop, they are better price shop with coupons only...You can find plenty of crystal pendatns in local bead show...google for any local bead show in your area. you may find online also...like firemountaingems.com or ebay like that...and price is more competitive through online.
