| | Shimla Mall Road..
The main street in Shimla, Mall Road, is a place which cannot be left untouched by any visitor.
The lifeline of Shimla, Mall road, is the main tourist attraction in the town.
Mall is the centre of Shimla's bustling social life. Most of the major hotels, restaurants, recreation centres are situated on The Mall. The Mall was constructed by the British, and precautions were taken to make sure that the road does not gets adversely affected. One such step was to ban entry of vehicles on the road. All the colonial structures are situated on The Mall.
Sounds like The road itself is a 'MALL' Isn't it?

This is really true. This is the place that one cannot ignore.
It is one of the busiest commercial areas of this place. Built by the British during the colonial rule in India, the Mall Road was constructed keeping in mind the traffic on this route. Entry of vehicles was banned though cycle rickshaws were allowed. It has been built in a very strategic and planned way.
One thing is for sure, While purchasing locally made goods, make sure you do some bargaining. Ideally, you should make sure that you bargain till at 30% of the amount quoted by the shopkeepers.
The whole area is fun to loiter around in and you wont even know when time flies by.

I have fond memories of my trips to the Mall during my visit to the Shimla. The Mall is a regular feature at all cities/towns/ hill stations constructed by the British in India. There is a Mall in New Delhi, Shimla, Mussorie and even Darjeeling.
I could discern that the State Govt. makes quite a lot of effort towards the mantainenance of beauty of Shimla. Municipal workers could be seen picking up dead leaves and burning them. At one end is the Municipal Office and there is a Church nearby too. Then are wrought iron chairs for people to site and admire the beauty. Unfortunately, I missed the snonw during my visit there. It must be quite a sight.
The Hotels located near the Mall command a premium. In fact, the Mall is a regular at many Bollywood films shot in Shimla.

You are right Nutangill...
Shimla has always been Bollywood’s one of its favourite places for its picturesque sights.
Many love songs have been shot amidst the beautiful pine trees of places like Naldehra, Chail and, Mashobra.
More so, the place has been famous for its British touch. There are many buildings from the British era that are famous amongst movie-makers. Actually Shimla is economic alternative for Switzerland and England.
Ajay Devgan’s ‘Mai Aisa Hi Hoon’ was the first movie which was shot here followed by Amitabh Bacchan’s ‘Shoe Bite’ and recently Imran Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut were also here for Raaz-II.
