Flora and Fauna In Himachal

Sometimes in the busy schedule of our lives we forget that there are so many things which are being neglected. Take for example the 'NATURE'. when it comes to India we do proudly say that it has got all the natural resources and flora and fauna. But asking ourselves the truth, We might not even know about the 'Nature in our own state'. Wot do you think? isn't it true?

So I just thought of writing down some of the facts,

It is true that Himachal is said to be the fruit bowl of the country with orchards scattered all over the place. But did you know that The state government is gearing up to make Himachal Pradesh as the flower basket of the world?

There are around 1200 bird and 359 animal species in the state. This includes the leopards, ghoral, snow leopard, musk deer (the state animal) and Western Tragopan (the state bird). Some of the animals are becoming extinct.

According to 2003 Forest Survey of India report, legally defined forest areas constitute 66.52% of the area of Himachal Pradesh.

Sometimes When I read these facts it makes me feel proud about our state and country. Isn't it same with you?

Floriculture is the buzzword for farmers in Himachal Pradesh. More and more farmers are growing flowers as the new lucrative commercial crop.

Chrysanthemum, roses, carnation, marigold and gladiolus are some of the flowers, which are being preferred by the farmers.

It is not only for the Flowers but also for the Fruits... Apples, apricots and plums are found in abundance here..
