Default Sham Indus Valley Trek

Through the Indus valley and the ancient kingdom of Sham, you will discover the main Ladakhi monasteries and the wonderful sites surrounding them: Shey, Thikse, Hemis, Spituk, Phyang, Lamayuru and Alchi are all accessible by road, and Temisgang, Ridzong and Likir line the trekking route. This itinerary is of moderate difficulty and the path does not rise above 4500m. The trail crosses numerous villages where the people have kept their Tibetan ways and customs.

There are many such places of trekking in North India. And people over there are also adventurous in nature. But I did not hear anyone speaking about their trekking experience. Hope to find someone soon..

Visit of the high Indus valley monasteries Shey houses the old summer palace of the kings of Ladakh Is something we get to see when we go. Its gompa shelters an amazing Buddha, 12m high. The picturesque Thikse monastery is perched on top of the hill overhanging the Indus. The Hemis gompa is one of the largest in Ladakh.

The visit to the Stok royal palace, Spituk monastery and the Tibetan Camp of
Choglamsar is also a place to visit while planning a trekking trip to the Indus Valeys.

This classic trek is also called the "Baby Trek" because of the easy and mild hiking conditions.

Starting from Likir, one passes through several villages among the richest in Ladakh and worth visiting are the monasteries of Likir, Ridzong and Tingmosgam on the way.

The trek ends at Khaltse. This is the only trek that can be done throughout the year, as the passes are not very high and don't get snow-blocked during winter.

It is a very adventurous trek, try it sometime..
