Default Indian classical dance

Indian classical dance is the embodiment of a whole range of expressions, which include fantasy and yogic discipline. The different forms represent the meeting point of three arts: music, drama and dance. Though highly defined and codified, they are perceived primarily as a form of worship, as homage to the almighty. Their classicism lies in the continuity of an unbroken history of over five thousand millennia, one which overwhelms yet inspires.

Does anyone know Indian classical dance?

If we approach classical Indian dance with humility, learn it with dedication and practice it with devotion to God, it brings out the great beauties of this dance can be portrayed with all the purity of the spirit. The flesh, which is considered to be an enemy of the spirit and the greatest obstacle to spiritual realization, has itself been made a vehicle of the divine in the discipline of the dance. Sringara thus is an instrument for uniting the dancer with Divinity. Since the dancer has universalized her experience, all that she goes through is also felt and experienced by the spectator".

It is a great passion to totally engross someone in it.

Hey, loveleen, I agree with you!

Indian classical dance has many forms. Out of which Kathak is the major classical dance form, most prevalent in northern India. The word kathak means "to tell a story". This dance form orginated in Lucknow, Benares and later Lahore.

I have trained for 2 years in Kathak and believe me it is the best recreational activity. It energizes and boosts one's confidence, (P.S. thats because we loose weight too!)!

So ladies who want to creatively invest energies.. Just go for it!!
And do let me know how it goes!
