Hi All, I delivered a baby girl through C-Section on the 10th...she is not even 2 Kgs though she completed 36 weeks inside the womb..Its a case of IUGR n hence i would like to know if anyone has any experience with it. Also how is it determined if a infant needs treatment (growth hormone) for IUGR or not....what are the parameters which are considered for the same..and at what age is the treatment given... i suppose all kids do not require the treatment... pls provide some info... thanks
I dont have a child with IUGR but of course se many children with this problem in practice. Growth hormone therapy is considered only if there is no catch-up growth by age 2 . Its not for everyone and your pedi is the bst judge of whether your child needs it at that time. Its a series of injections given several times a week for a lon time. magic foundation for children's growth : Small for Gestational Age is a good website for info. Hope your baby does well. Vanathi.
Thanks Vanathi for your response. My child is catching up weight wise so i am not worrying much right now. regards
