Krithika - sounds terrible. I heard from my Dad that its been raining there today too. We had a short respite this morning - sun came out for a couple of hours but its been pouring so hard from 4 pm - no signs of a let-up. Is there a new depression? Couldnt find any info on TV. Thought the old one had crossed.

Latha - rain means the little guy is driving me nuts - didnt want to moan here so thats why no posts Your weekend sounds busy. Mine will be quiet I hope.

Hope all the US moms are having a good holiday.

I haven't called home Krithika but DH said there was quite a bit of water logged at his parents' home. Rains, toddler and wedding doesn't sound like a good combo to me. I do hope you managed to convince your DH.

A came home sick from pre-school. He complained of head ache, stomach ache. Luckily today DH worked from home (i had gone to pick up) so i called him to drive us home. Gave him some herbal tea and he just now woke up and asked for idlis.. good sign! (Actually as i type this the 2 men are in bed. DH is snoring and son is telling his dad 'appa don't make noise from your nose').

Tonight i had planned to dig out my recipe collection for a nice fruit cake (a 70 yr old brit friend had given me one.. i hope i haven't lost it in our move!). But now no energy for any organising stuff.

DH has booked a trip to India in Jan munich-mumbai... that is bothering me since last night. I know no place is safe these days but still...

Last night when A and me were reading a book he read 'rst' of 'first' using phonics. He wasn't so sure about 'f' in lower case and i declined to help (why give a wrong solution). I think his teacher took care of that today.

So first time since my girl's birth, today i went out all alone for 40 minutes leaving both kids with DH... i was panicky, i must accept! It all started with a trip to the pharmacy for A's tea (plus stock up para), then i went ahead to the library, ordered a take-away at my fav place (glad i did that.. just no time to cook meal for us tonight... 2 clinging kids), bought my monthly pass, wandered around a bit until DH gave a warning call

All have a great week-end. I do hope my boy gets better.

Latha

Latha, I bet that must have felt good. Did you keep getting panic attacks. When I leave home without Riya, I feel like a part of me has been left behind and I feel so 'incomplete' and 'light'

We had a great thanksgiving at our friend's. Tomorrow night I am going to cook the traditional dinner.

I made Chitra aunty's Rava idli recipe today... Wow! Finally I have found an idli recipe that will work and doesn't need any fermentation. I need to work on my sambar though. My dad makes a killer sambar, time to call him for the recipe.

We are planning to go for a movie tomorrow -'Fireproof' - heard good reviews about it from my friends. Going to call my friend and see if she can babysit Riya.

You all have a great weekend.

Raj

Hey Raj, we watched the movie "get smart" yesterday and had lots of fun. Can you please copy the link of the idli recipe? I would love to try it.

Aarya took couple of steps yesterday. Today, my friend visited with her kid and spent few hours at our place. It felt good. BOth kids had good time and so does mommies.

Latha can you post the fruit cake receipe? How long are you planning to stay in India? Have fun with boys in the weekend.

So, what are your weekend plans? We might go for dine-out tomorrow. And might go to temple on Sunday.

Have a wonderful weekend to you all.

Love
Meeta

Meeta, seems like we're both online at the same time. Here is Chitvish's Idli Rava recipe.

Hi all,

We had a good Thanksgiving. Although I heeded DH's advice to take it easy and not invite anyone, we had some company for tea - DH's relatives were visiting and they stopped by. I liked that, it felt funny not to have anyone over. After that we went out to dinner and then to the new James Bond movie. P was a champ and helped by sleeping as soon as the movie started (he is usually good at that). Usual timepass movie. Not sure if I like the new Bond though - I think Brosnan was better. We did some shopping today. My blender jar broke two days back so got a new set.

Raj - try ChitVish's Novel Tiffin Sambar - it is simply out of this world. Pretty easy to make, too. It is just the thing for idli/dosa.

Looks like its movie weekend for many of us.

Krithika & Vanathi, hope the rains have subsided? Can't be fun with that kind of downpour...

Sunny skies this morning I'm taking advantage of this - going to the tailor's now. Hope it lasts.

Sounds like everyone is having fun - happy weekend!

Vanathi,

Sending loads of good luck on the blouses:) I always have to make several trips before getting them altered to a decent level.

Meeta,

Only DH going to India in Jan (for 20 days grrrr!). The family goes only in June for the 1st birthday. Ananya's vaccinations are not yet done so that's my excuse. It's just that I'm at peace with myself after a long time and don't want to spoil that by making a trip now. When I locate the cake recipe i'll PM you. I have another one from Australian Women's weekly but that's with alcohol. DH has recommended that i make a simple loaf cake without nuts etc., so it's palatable for the kids... good reco. I made a pound cake with orange some time back and A liked it a lot. Looks like i'll repeat that.

Big A is sick with fever and body pain. Have given him ibuprofin. Temp is on the border line and he's eating well. I think he is also constipated. He tried to do it twice middle of the night but no luck. I'll see till this evening else give a suppository. Today it's sunny and christmas markets are starting. I thought of taking the kids out but well... there's always another time!

Latha
