Sure Krithika. I liked the way the lady spoke. She was very encouraging. We basically let her know that we want tips to change ourselves first. I am sure kids don't scream, throw things, nag us to irritate us. They are only developing their personality, social skills and DH and me believe that if we can help them positively at this age then the foundation is firm. Anytime soon, the little one is sure to follow her brother. I am really sick of myself shouting at my boy, restricting him on most things...

what she said makes a lot of sense... 'will we as adults like it if someone is saying no you shouldn't be doing this, that and not appreciate more often?' She firmly believes that children must be respected as any adult would be... now that impresses me. And she also stresses on the fact that children must understand that there are bad and good days for the parents too and all is not rosy. She sounds very practical to me.

Oh blouses... i haven't found a tailor yet who would stitch blouses that make me comfortable. It's either too tight, the shoulders are sloping grrr.. i've stopped buying silk blouse material... if the tailor is not good it's a sheer waste of money with lining and all that.

Kalakshetra has been on my list since a long time. I didn't know we can buy from them. I have one saree with 'kalakshetra border' that i got at nalli. Must next time..

V, Kalakshetra has seasonal sales, I think they retail through their weaving units too. But I had seen lovely stuff when we visited there for a 9-day open air arts/festival with K... we saw some concerts and dance performances, etc. Some of DH's French friends were being entertained there as well and they got some sarees (the lady loves sarees!).

I never heard of Kalakshetra sarees as well. Must take a look next time I am in India...

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I am taking it easy and am not cooking this year, we'll probably go out. Although it feels like I am violating the spirit to not have a home cooked dinner.

Raj - ChitVish has posted something on Idli with Idli Rava without a grinder. You may want to check that out. It is in her Tasty Tiffins thread (I remembered you when I saw that)

Latha, congrats on the solids milestone. How did the tart come out?

Supriya, I envy you - my mom and MIL both are clueless when it somes to picking clothes for me.

I am looking forward to a long weekend - we took Friday off.

Thank you Sindhu, Latha and Supriya for letting me know about the Idli rava recipe. I went through it and posted some questions to Chitvish based on that recipe too so I can make those idlis this weekend. Hubby is off for 4 days for Thanksgiving. Yipppeeee!!!

Latha, the little kiddo is growing too fast, isn't she?! Hope she likes the apple puree. Don't forget to capture those cute facial expressions on a camera.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Raj

Hi girls,

Emotionally I'm very drained today. Firstly last night i must have slept only an hour or so and then I wake up to hear the terrifying news. I don't know why but the scenes on CNN made me cry.... why and how can some people be so cruel against fellow human beings?

The thanksgiving lunch seems to have gone well today. The school was smelling of good food. I made a coconut-pumpkin pie on a baking tray (doubled the recipe). Actually the filling was so runny i thought it would be a disaster. But it came out quite well. This morning i inagurated my cake decorating nozzle... will upload the picture this week-end. I had also made green beans (with pine nuts and lemon)... the teacher said the moms who came to help had a helping and loved it. The pie was also wiped off clean... i'm really happy. (and so relieved i have a big crowd to experiment on for some time...)

Next week is christmas party. I'll take some chai, a fruit cake and some sandwiches for the vegetarians. Any ideas? I am looking for some interesting spread other than the usual butter, cream cheese ones...

i'm off for a nap... oh dear.. forgot to mention about our apple puree. She liked it a lot. She seems to have lost the tongue thrust (spelling?) so good sign. I gave her a bath, a good massage and then little bit of the puree. Have taken pictures... will follow soon..

Latha

hello hello is anybody there? what are you all upto? i can understand folks in US are enjoying family time with thanks-giving holiday. I hope the rain isn't too bad in chennai.

Uma,

i do agree social life in Singapore is very good (and hectic). I really miss those days when we friends gathered for a tamil movie and then to komalas for dinner. now all of us have kids but my friends keep telling me it's lots of fun for the kids too.

Week-end: A has his english class from 9-11 on saturday. Then i'll take him to the main library may be. The christmas markets start here tomorrow so i've to be careful about the crowd. Sunday i take him to a christmas market near his school... his friends are all planning to be there too. I am hoping it doesn't rain. I also have to plan a cake for the christmas party next week. If it is fruit cake then i'll bake it on sunday itself. I'm already nervous about 3 weeks of holidays approaching for A... how do I engage him!

Latha, I have been enjoying/worrying sick about the rains. The grounds in our home was flooded with no signs of rain abatting. Worse still were the gale strength winds which almost uprooted trees. There are around 8 of these trees (they are acacia family, dont know what they are) which are tilting dangerously at the house, that need to be chopped down before the next rains. That makes me very sad, but I think the avenue trees are terrible for the sandy soil you see in Chennai.
Our driveway is still waterlogged, DH's office under 2 ft of sewage that has backflowed. In laws are marooned in their house with waist deep water in the roads and water just a couple of inches from entering their homes. My parents have been ill. There is a reception and wedding tomorrow in DH's family and we are in complete disagreement about taking K to those dos, in this weather with the assortment of infections going around. FUN.
