Happy navarathri to all who are celebrating! I have put up a modest kolu. So far have managed to make sundals for the past two days. We leave this weekend to visit my SIL for one week so will not be here for navami and dasami.

Today P had his 4-year appt. He also had vision and hearing checked. The nurse who administered the tests was a dragon ; I felt like strangling her. She was going on and on in a loud voice asking P to follow instructions etc. He aced the vision test, but when it came to the hearing I think he got fed up with her that he wouldn't say "I hear it" when he heard the sounds. Anyway just an indication of how un-feeling teachers can be.

Little V has a cold and is also teething so poor baby hasn't been sleeping well. He is usually very happy and not fussy and this is very unlike him

Vanathi - Great that Adhu enjoyed his day and you, your well deserved break.

Latha - Wish I could get back to childhood and have such fun games to play.

I can't agree more about commercialisation of agricultural land. Its a pity that they are used for construction purposes.

I am having a tough week. With Vinu about to be a year old, there are so many rituals that need to be done. I am having a rather rough time and its showing on my tolerance levels. Its going close to zero. WFHM status is really tough... office work, house work and then running behind the kid. I have no time for myself :(. Another set of rituals this week, plus the navratri festivals as well.... I am just waiting to get over with this weekend.

Anyways, we have finally finalised the place for Vinu's bday party. Its not a hall, just a restaurant, but, the guy said we could have the entire place to ourselves. So the privacy will be there. Its a rather new place and the ambience is good. And the best part of the deal, apart from the extensive menu, is that the decorations are on him. I don't have to pay for it. Some of the places were ridiculous, Rs. 1500 - 2000 for just balloon decorations!!!!!!!!! (No streamers, or colour paper, etc). I am yet to finalise the menu.... so much to choose from that it gets tough. Dh and me never really got the time to sit together and decide about the menu.

Hello dear ladies;)
I leave Kerala tomrw. One week in Chennai and the next week I leave to US. Almost finished packing,totally perplexed where to put my new Preethi mixer.
I am so looking forward to see J and to be in his arms(ahh.. I am getting romantic), but I feel sorry for Chinnu and wonder how she will get used to the new environment. Here she has so many people to play with, and she is very comfortable with malyalam.New place..new faces..new language.

everyone busy with festive season/autumn??

me and A went for Laura's star at the cinema y'day. it was a huge break for me from the usual routine. how beautifully they craft these animated movies. this one esp is about the girl's family going to China for the mom's performance and the opera is animated esp too well. it was a moving one too about friendship... A had good fun for sure. well anyways the moment we came home he was the stubborn kid again. actually DH thought he is going thro' a attention demanding phase coz i don't get one-on-one time with him. but looks like this is simply a phase typical for his age.

i took him down to the cellar and had a talk with lights switched off. i cannot hold on a serious conversation because he makes these pretty gestures and brings in a sad look in his eyes. anyways today went well. he has drawn a pretty picture for his teacher who is leaving their school in 2 days. i took a power nap for 45 minutes too:) DH is travelling again this week but thankfully not more than 1 night out of home. wednesday his school is celebrating oktoberfest and i got a bavarian shirt for A at the second hand shop... it'd be fun for the kids. exceptionally the weather has been awesome this year for the oktoberfest. sat we drove past the place and my god amazing crowd!

My tale - A started school today. There was a puja yesterday (Vijayadasami) at the school and today he went for 2 hours. I went too and we had a lot of fun, so much that A didnt want to leave at the end He was a bit quiet for the first 20 mins and then became his usual talkative , fearless self - thats such a relief. I go tomorrow too and then he's on his own - hope he continues to like it. I dont know how I feel - my baby's growing up....

My story has to do with getting Nilu to sleep at night! She keeps awake till 1 or 2 and then goes to sleep. Keeps playing all through! It is driving me nuts and I lost my temper yesterday! Feeling very guilty today. I do not know what to do. I put her to sleep at 10 and she wakes up by 11. I have to find a bed time routine..........she used to sleep at 10 and wake up by 6 when she was 4 months old. Now the routine is 1 to 9 or 10! Dont know what to do!!! The lack of rest is making me

they sure are growing up and i know that feeling... happy yet sad.. but good that he likes the school. they learn with more interest when that is the case.

I'm sure Nilu is through a growth spurt. our girl too had this last month and it was teething phase... the molars. now she goes to bed at 7.30 and wakes up may be only once or twice but rocks herself back to sleep.

Anitha; I hear you. I had hard time till Chinnu was 9 months.. Life is better now. As Lata mentioned Neelu will give you ample sleep in next couple of months.
Update from my side. Back in Chennai. Will be back to US this weekend. How fast time flies... Did a whole lot of things in last two months. Arranged two birthday parties, ear piercing ceremony(which was a waste, as her one ear got infected), took 4 wheeler license(till now I was content with my Kinetic Zing, now I lack confidence to drive 2 wheeler), did my dental works, brought land, some gold, a lot of travel. Ohh did i mention the price of land is so so high.And not to mention the gold. My mom is already in tension as I have an younger sister to get married. Oh.. I told her to elope and do a love marriage. It saves a lot of money.
I have a few unopened jars of gerber food. I dont want to carry it back to US. I wonder how I will dispose it? Any thoughts ladies???

oh wow Nitha. that's quite a lot of work you did with little Chinnu. When we went home for A's first b'day (my boy; for my girl we were there exactly for 10 days) i did nothing but laze around with mom's pamperings.

Is gold really hard to buy now? oh don't tell me... we are planning to fly to India this december. we always go in April but it's really hot. and finally my dream to celebrate shankranthi with folks yippeee will come true!!! so i was telling DH that we make a trip to my fav Kerala jewellers in chennai... he said no way. so many of our friends got land, home in 2001/2003 when the prices were so low. back then we didn't have any money. and 2 yrs back we paid a ransom to get our house in chennai. really sad...

gerbers... why not a childrens home or something??
