Wink Update of my baby

Dear all,

Thanks for your support.Today we have received a new stool culture report of my baby from a different pathology center.Thnak God,he is not infeted with Shigella .Dear Aadhusmom, his routine test is showing 2-3 pus cells,no RBCs & stool culture showing E-coli.I have been giving him Bacigyl 5ml bd since last 3 days and had a word with his dr.He said Bacigyl will take care of e-coli but his sensitivity test is showing that he is resistant to Norfloxacin but I have seen improvement in his bowel movements.Although he is passing 5-6 motions per day but they are solid ,non smelly and without mucous.

Need ur advice for ecoli infections.

thanks in advance,
Monica

Default Re: Update of my baby

Monica,
E coli is a normal bacterium found in our intestines. There are some types of E coli that can cause diarrhoea though. So unless a typing is done (which is usually not done in most labs in India) just growing E coli in a stool culture doesnt mean anything. I still dont think your child has a bacterial infection at all. But anyway since you have started a course of antibiotics it is best to complete it.

Vanathi.
