    Hi everyone,
my 8 months old was doing great. He reached all his milestones turning, crawling, babbling on time but suddenly a few weeks back he developed a heavy squint in his eye. We took him to the doctor at arvind hospital coimbatore. The doc said he will need a surgery at 2 years. Until then, they gave us a patch which is like bandaid to cover each of his eye for an hour everyday. I am extremely disappointed and stressed out. Somewhere i can't stop thinking that its my fault. Did any of you have had the same experience ? Would be good to gain some experience on this.
    Do write in. Thanks

    Hi sayika

I can understand your worries... my wishes for you. But do not think it is your fault...you did not do anything to bring squint ..right?
I have seen my baby and other babies having squint in the beginning when they are born and it disappeared after a month or so. Please have second opinion before thinking surgery.

@sayika, I am so sorry to hear that the baby developed this condition. I have no idea what causes this but I know for a fact it is not your fault. Dont beat yourself over this. Like @sanjuruby3 says, maybe it will go back to normal by itself.

@sayika I am sorry. But I don't think this is anything to worry about. What I would do is get a second opinion. My friends son developed it at the around the same time. They took to a pediatric eye specialist and all he had to do was wear a specific glasses all the time. He is 4yrs now and his squint eyes are gone. He still wears those glasses but they are on the verge of getting rid of it. They preferred the glass method although it took long instead of surgery. Do check that option too. Good luck !

As a new mom, can totally understand your anxiety and self blame. But its not gonna help. Just take a second opinion and move accordingly. Lots of love to your kid:)

    Dear Sayika,

Just saw your post. Dont get worried. Squint is something that becomes alright as the child is growing. The doctor asks you to cover each eye so that it does not become a habit. Eye problem can be habit forming.

Wait till he grows up and starts school. Then consult a doctor. I am sure by then he should be alright. Surgery can be done to cure it if it persists.

FYI I am 52 years old born with a squint and I still remain that way.

    Regards
    Uma
