Hello Friends, My son who is now 4 months old is having small lice ( a black color parasite in hair) in his head... past one week at nights he used to cry a lot ... initially we thought it was colic or gas trouble but yesterday when searching in hair of his head found 2-3 small lice... Before when conculted doc .. told that dont apply oil in head as it might get cold now... so I am not applying oil but normal bath .. HOw can lice be removed in babies ... plz suggest
Hi, sorry, but I doubt if there is any quick fix in this matter. baby is small, to use any lice comb, or lice shampoo on it , delicate skin, so do not use both, if we use a typical lice comb for him, it may hurt him , and lice shampoos have chemicals , . so I would recommend, with little patience, try removing the lice, with careful observation of baby's hair, scalp. I know it may take time, but don't try lice comb or lice shampoo. also wash all baby cloths- pillow covers, bed sheets etc in warm water, so that any lice , or lice egg on these cloths may go, and sun dry them. also check if you have some lice, or your elder child, or husband too. if any one has try removing lice. I feel it wont come to baby unless and until if someone in contact with baby had it. don't worry. it may take little patience this matter. take care, resmij
Shaving the hair is the best solution. Also you might want to check all family members to make sure they don't have Lice. If you don't do that then the baby may get it back again.
I am not sure if it is possible to shave the baby's head. If you have a baby sitter/ nanny, please make sure that they are not lice infected too. You can try removing the lice carefully, but, it takes at least a few weeks to remove all of them, as the lice eggs would have formed. Alternately, try placing Tulsi leaves and tulsi flowers in between the baby's hair everyday after bath. Tulsi is supposed to be very good for removing lice. Another issue is that, the baby's clothes may be infected too, and so is the bed. So, keep boiling the clothes and bed covers during each wash.
Dear op, Even my lil one who was 7 months old got lice from his sis.. I didn't have any choice but to use lice comb which is easy and quickest way..I didn't apply hard rather solftly combed his scalp..searching manually is very difficult for babies. . better u see bristles are soft and use urself 2 or 3 times Then try for baby..sterilize after each use
I too now started searching in head daily .. sometimes gets but sometimes nothing ... also other day got 2 .. so ...also now baby is sleeping more time duration in night .. felt happy atleast baby is sleeping some time in night ..before every hr used to wake up and its really tough to manage .............
Hi Telja, In our family, we normally shave baby's hair after completing 3 months.. if u r scared then please dont do it..
