When to clip baby nails?

Thanks for the suggestions. I did buy a baby nail cutter and my husband last night tried clipping it off. Only with one finger the baby suddenly moved his hand and got very slight hurt, but it wasnt much.

I guess now the trick is to do it when he is very fast asleep

Did you try just peeling with your fingertips? its so easy and so very safe:)

When we went for first pediatrician`s visit the doctor suggested to file
the nails for first 2 months. So with the help of small emery board I used
to file my daughter`s nails while she was asleep. It is very safe and easy too.
I wonder how can you bite off baby`s nails.
You can also try to file the nails with emery board!!

I tried peeling them. But some wont come off like that.

Emery board sounds like a good idea! Riya's nails grow like crazy. I'll have to try emery boards. I clip her nails with a baby nail clipper from 'the first years' and it has a magnifying glass attached to it. We really like it.

Just wait for the baby to sleep after giving bath..THen u can cut nails with baby nail cutter. my son is 7 months now and his nails grow very faster that i had to cut it once in a week otherwise he mite hurt himself. Am doing this since his 4 days of birth. But make sure u got to wait till ur baby sleeps so that u can cut carefully.
