Hi, I am not giving tips to travel to US. But I say this generally. Clothing should be comfortable for the baby, carry extra woollens. Always carry two or three toys of baby which it is used to. This makes the baby feel at home. Don't take too much noisy toys, soft toys would be better.

Thanks a bunch Vidhya, Puni, Varloo for ur response. Vidhya: 1. How to keep the feeding schedule(like when to give cereal, rice etc..) 2. Will the give bassinet for 11 month(I have heard the bassinet will b provided for infants <6months) Sorry to bother u again. Thanks everyone. Dhivya

hi dhivya, These are my tips reg each of your queries: 1. Rice/cerelac: While on board i wore a digital wrist watch to keep track of the time and i fed my baby as per the schedule when im at home.Give lot of water on board to keep the baby hydrated and keep changing the diapers.I gave milk biscuits pureed in water in between instead of milk. 2. Jetlag: I assume you will be landing around 1am or so and by the time you reach home aftr the immigration formalities etc i suggest you give a hot water bath to the baby. I did so as per a friends advice and my daughter had a good sleep for long. Dont worry about the day/night pattern for 2-3 days. It is important that the baby gets rest, eats well and keep up the health. I dont think a 10 month old baby can keep herself awake till night and adjust as we adults do......right??? 3.Bassinet for 11 month old: A bassinet is given to a child as per the age of the child. Like if there are kids of less than your childs age on the flight they will get preference. Moreover, do not worry too much i personally feel a 11 month baby should be okay to sleep in your lap even if you dont get a bassinet. One small friendly tip i can give you. The very idea of meeting our people in India after landing up gave me all the courage i needed to overcome the hassles of journey. 4. In Chennai consulate: REcently a friend of mine had been there for stamping and as her baby started crying in the entrance itself, the women helpers there offered her a chair behind the curtains used for security check and she BF her baby w/o any tension. So keep coooooool and everything will fall in place Happywoman

Hi, Welcome to IL.Before starting a thread ,please go through and search if the topic u have in mind already exists. check this link ....which is already opened Travelling to India with Infants There may be more link..so please search.

Hi Supriya, Thanks for the link. However its catered more for infants. I will be travelling with a toddler. Its not easy travelling to India with an infant but with a toddler who wants to just run around - its a completely differnt ball game. I will search the board like you suggested . I was looking for suggestions on airplanes that are more child friendly.
