Spit up after giving 1st solid food

    My baby is 5.5 months old. Today I gave her Gerber stage 1 sweet potato as her first solid food. She had 1 small spoon quantity. One hour after eating she had curd like spit up with sweet potato also. Is this normal ? Experienced moms please advise.

    Spit-ups are normal.
    Rice cereal is the best first food.. You can also try others applesauce.. Most of the kids like applesauce and pears.
    My DS spit his first spoon of sweet potato's straight to my face.. (He is a "gourmand" :) To till date he hates sweet potato's .

    no problem.. you could try the same for 2 more days or try a different food.. it take 6-8 months for babies to get over the spit ups..

    Since the spit up had sweet potato (usually it would be white color) hence worried.

    @ilovemymom my LO also spit up initially with sweet potato. After giving for 2-3 days she started to love it.

    Thanks ramya! Will try for the next two days. Can I use the opened gerber fruit for 3 days max. They mention 2-3 days in the cover.

    No ILM ,

    Try to finish one box of opened food in 2 days. As in give half today and give the rest tomorrow. thats it. Dont keep it longer than that..

    Hi ramya,
    What is double dip ?
    I took 1spoon from the box in a bowl and fed my baby. The rest of the food in the box I kept in the refrigerator.
