    Hi all,
Can anyone suggest how to remove the body hair of the newborn girl baby?.....i heard that north indians (marvaadis??) use some herbal powder to remove the body hair (that removes the hair permanently)?....Does anyone know about this?.....or any other ways to remove the hair?

Swati, newborn's usually have hair all over their body. its nothing to worry about. It will fall off by itself. I strongly suggest that you DON'T apply any cream or anything. Babies skin is extremely soft dear. Please don't consider hair removal on this 1 month old; she might even get allergies. It will fall of by itself.

    Swathi dont worry about it.
Mine has all over her shoulder blade & ear.
When they gave the baby first time after delivery, I thought it was boy(I dint ask for sex of baby till I came out of OT, I fed her immediately after birth).
Doc says hair quite normal and in most cases will go off by 3 - 4 months.
lets wait for our LO to turn 4 months and see

my mom used to make a soft dough out of wheat flour, ghee and besan and apply to my son's body and that indeed removed all his hair. but I made her stop because I did not like to see him cry when she used to do it.

    Hi Swathi...
first of all,it is quite common for new borns to have lot of hairs all over their body...every month you can see changes and within 4-5 months, you could see that the baby has less body hair...there is no need to worry...your baby is very small, just 1 1/2 months old...dont try out any powders or cream for hair removal...you could see the change in the baby's body and skin every month
so please stop worrying and dont try anything...it might not suit your LO's skin..

    Swathi,
The hair present on newborn called lanugo, disappears on its own and is not a matter of concern. Don't worry.

Like every other poster said, you do not have to do anything to remove hair. they will go on their own. My mom was very upset that she couldnt find turmeric in UK, she thought my baby's hair will be there permanently. We didnt apply anything and they were all gone!
