Hey All New Mummies out there...Congrats on the Arrival of you LO..Here is some Information on Colic Babies collected from NET:

    Colic babies
Are you a new mummy? Worried about why your baby keeps crying uncontrollably. Your baby might be colic.
    Who are Colic Babies?
Babies who cry a lot more compared to normal Babies (uncontrollable crying) are called Colic Babies. Colic babies are otherwise healthy babies.

How to identify if a Baby is Colic?
Colic Babies crying would last for more than three hours a day and this happens at least three days per week for more than three weeks. Crying out of Colic may start mostly after feeding .While crying their face may turn red, and their legs curled up as though they are in pain. With hands Clenched they may look uncomfortable. They may refuse to drink or eat while crying. The baby's tummy may look swollen and may look even tight. They may lift their legs to pass gas often.

When do they cry out of Colic?
Crying out of Colic can happen any time during the day, but it may usually happen at the end of the day or in the Late Evenings.

    How long will Colic last?
Colic usually starts by the third week after birth and continues till the third month. Sometimes it may continue till the sixth month also. Colicky reaches its peak at the second month.

    What causes Colic?
There is no solid reason that can be blamed for a baby to turn Colic. Stomach pain, Immature Digestive System and extensive irritation may cause the baby to turn colic. But these reasons have not been universally accepted and proved.

What should be done to stop the Baby's Crying?
    - Try to soothe the baby.
    - Change the feeding position whichever is comfortable for the baby.( Preferably hold the baby in an upright position for feeding.)
    - Allow the baby to burp in between the feeds.
    - Even though scientifically not proved, mother's diet does often make an impact on Colic babies. Breast feeding mothers should try to avoid Spicy foods, Citrus fruits and Caffeine, Onions, cauliflower or other Gas producing foods.Consult the Paediatrician about this.
    - If your Bottle feeding your baby try to avoid the air intake through the Bottle. Preferably use a curved bottle.
    - Give a Warm bath to the baby.
    - Pacify the baby.
    - Wrap the baby in Soft blanket.
    - Don't overfeed the baby.
    - Avoid feeding the baby at both breasts during a single feed.
    - During feeding make sure the baby is well latched to the Breast.
    - Play music or make some Rhythmic noise .This may soothe the baby.
    - Gently rub your baby's stomach.
    Few words for the Parents....
Don't be upset. You are not the reason for your baby to be Colic. Just because the baby is Colic it doesn't mean that the baby is Unhealthy. Bottle Fed babies may also be Colic.
There is no long term Problem associated with colicky. There is nothing much to worry about Colic Babies as long as they continue to eat and gain weight normally.
Consult your Pediatrician regularly to discuss with him about your baby's health
