Hi

I came about the same time as you, my child starts school only in the fall as she is young. How do you like living here, have you gotten used to it, have you lived in europe before? You live up north, are there many indians around you and have you made friends, at least you child goes to school so there is an opportunity to socialise? Well at least the weather is better now.

Hi
I know only few Indian families residing in this area. Duchies are busy except old women .but I know many expatriate from the school ,those people are really friendly and helpful. Dutch people are more direct. So my most of the friends are from my son ‘school, sometimes I invite neighbours on coffee ,usually they are too busy to make appointment for a week.but you get adjusted with time . Now I can say I am enjoying my stay in Holland.what about you. How do you feel here?

Hi

From the indian families that i have met, many are moving away to the next assignment this summer. Relatively speaking there are far more indian expats in the Amstelveen/Hilversum area.Do you get indian groceries and vegetables there, cos you can get in the hague. Likewise i have found the dutch to be direct and busy, you good, at least you invited them to coffee to date i have not.As for the dutch thing of making an appointment for an appoinment, it drives me crazy. But i think that the parents that you meet in the school are more tuned in to your situation and i find it easier to socialise with them then at least i can set up playdates and they can assist with the school run. After my trip back home i settled in and made peace with my life here, well at least fro the next 2 years. I like the freedom that children enjoy in this country. Do you have any hobbies, i wish i had the time to myself to go to gym, my daughter is a handful.

Hi,
Once in three month I go to Mathon just for wheat flour near to den hague. Otherwise I got all Indian stuff in Turkish and Indonesian toko shops.Once your child go to school ,you can easily arrange play dates for her, you get enough time to pursue your hobbies.earlier I had some private dutch lesson . Here every thing in dutch , at least there should be one in the family who understand little bit dutch. The language in itself is not tough, only pronunciation is really hard. I joined aerobics. Do you have all common insurances like liability ,legal that don’t cost much but at least you get peace.

Hi

Insurance, hey you talking about things that goes over my head.Have not been for dutch classes but would like to attend, just do not have the time. Surprising that we the only 2 that seem to be communicating, when there are many other expat indians here. Ideally there should be a website to cater for expats coming into a country but with an indian twist, what do you think?
