Welcome to IL and enjoy.
Glad to know you are from Frankfurt. I lived in Germany for many many years and moved to US recently. No matter how nice, it takes time to adjust to a new country and its ways. Basically, Germans are a very civil and decent lot. They 'look' reserved at first, but if you make friends with them, they prove to be genuine ! As a matter of fact, they too greet even strangers with a smile or nod. But I know that Frankfurt is flooded with a lot of foreigners and in cities like Fkt, people are not that friendly. I do hope it will change with time. Do enjoy living in Germany, its chocolates, cakes, cheeses and breads ! There are some friendly IL'ites living in that area. Let's hope you get to know them

I m Swati, recently moved to Frankfurt, Germany. Living in the area of "Bornheim", a sweet n nice place, with a nice market area nearby. Moved here last month due to husband's work. Have a lil 3 year old. I m not working currently, but looking something better to do with my time, now that my lil one goes to Kindergarten for quite a while!

So far liking it here, cept I dont know German!! After staying In detroit, Michigan for 4 yrs, and from the culture of making conversation with strangers.. (gotta love their all smile attitude), I m here in Fft, where, when u if u do so at strangers ure stared at and if ure lucky given a smile back..
Well, we learn...
But ppl r helpful n nice, even if they dont pass smiles.

ANyhow, so here I am, and looking forward to make some friends, and m so glad 2 bump into IL!!

welcome to Frankfurt.....I live in darmstadt...but know a lot ofpeople in Frankfurt and i drop in there every week......will let u know abt the Diwali prog in Bornheim saalbau, ...i think it is on 10th nov.....you will find a whole lot of Indians there!

I have come to frankfurt yesterday. I dont know any indians here. I am trying to learn german language. My husband is working in deutsche-boerse here. I am looking for some friends here. Can you suggest me some areas where indian families stay? We are looking for an appt to stay. It will be better for me if I have a company in neighbourhood.
Please suggest.

i am living in darmstadt from past one year, and from past five years totally in different placess in germany . i am basically from mysore and moved here with my husband after marriage , have got a 2.8 yrs old son . will be very glad to make some new friends.

Nice to see so many Indians in Germany. Well, I have just moved in this country couple of months back and still trying to settle down. We are staying in Neustadt Weinstrasse.....about 40 Kms from Mannheim. Its a small and beautiful place along the wine growing area of Germany. No Indians here, although some Pakis, Bangladeshis and Sri lankans here.

Its really interesting to read all the emails posted on the website. I would like to make friends with you guys....and carry on with the conversation....
