Default Howz life in Amsterdam?

Hi,
Can anyone please help me to know the rent for 1 br apt nearby Oosterdoksstraat, Amsterdam. Whats the fee structure in pre school or elementary school? Can a person with the salary of 3000euro survive the with family of 4 which includes 2 kids (one of them would be going to school). What is the way to commute fromamstelveen to Oosterdoksstraat if someone doesn't have a car. and are there any Indian grocery stores nearby? Sorry for so many question but i need to decide the place to live before moving to amsterdam.

Please you suggestions are needed so that i can make decision whether to move to Amsterdam or not :)

Hii
I dont know a lot of Amsterdam but I think 3000 is enough. My husband and I have together almost the same but we can live here in Rotterdam. Our monthly costs are like 1500 euro's so we can save a lot..

My son is in the daycare and we pay 200 a month for it, he is playing there 5 days a week when we are working.

Hi Deepti,

Holland is a beautiful place. Accomodation is the only expensive thing here. If you are talking about net salary of 3k you can definitely manage. I dont have kids but I know there are many international schools here and education system is very good.
Montly grocerries might take you around 200 euros if you are not a big spender. House rental can be from 800 to 1300. Education costs i donno. but you could consider Saritha´s estimate. So you have enough to Save and for a bit of entertainment. Good luck!!

Hi Deepti

I have found some information for you on the web. I you have questions Google is your best friend ;)

Education and Schooling in the Netherlands - AngloINFO Holland South (Holland)

Here is some information about the fees,

Quote:
Education is compulsory for all children and consists of either 12 years full-time schooling (age 5 to 17 years) or full-time schooling from age 5 until the end of the school year in which a child attains age 16 followed by a period of part-time compulsory schooling until age 18. This depends on the type of secondary school attended.
Public and private establishments are financed by the government according to the same criteria. Many Dutch children attend private schools at both the primary and secondary level.
If you have more questions let me know

hai deepti,

I live in amstelveen. I have a son age3. I did nt put him in a school. there are 2 reasons.
1. the medium is dutch.
2. education is a bit expensive(for us).

some international schools are there. they teach with english medium. ours is a v.short trip. So i'll be back to india soon.

We dont own a car. Public transportation are great and safe.

One indian store is nearby. If u need, then i'll tell u its address. Lot of indian stores are there in amsterdam. U'll learn them as time goes by. Then, lot of Indians are there in Amstelveen with kids. So dont worry.
