Default Job in Europe, how reliable is it?Please read & reply!!

hey friends..i am from chennai india..

i was living in northern europe for a while with my family..and we went on a european tour aswell..we jus love europe and are desparate to settle there...but unfortunately due to the market situation we had to comeback to india without trying for a job ..
my question is we see lots of suitable job offers in monster website even now..my hubby is a software networking consultant in a reputed company...would they sponsor visa/work permit?
but we also hesitate to try out as we are scared how safe it would be to quit his job here and go anywhere even if we get an offer
will it be reliable..will there be sudden layoff's ..would they pay properly and all that...
we are more interested to settle in places like Germany,France,Swiss,Denmark,Netherlands,Brussels. .

Friends..can u help me by giving any information and the status in these places that u know or u came to know from others may be ur better half's

Please help.!!!

Dear Rigama,

It is tough to answer this question as there is no definitive response.

I agree that there are job vacancies in Europe which are advertised in job sites like Monster. One of my friends applied and received an offer but in the nick of time they could not oblige the offer owing to recession and apologised.

There are lot of factors to take into consideration before accepting a job and moving to Europe.Reliability and stability of the firm where your hubby has an offer, compensation and other benefits ,city and culture, relocation expenses etc.If you can tick maximum items in the checklist you have prepared for yourself which are required ideally and leave out on the preferred ones then probably it is good opportunity.

'Sudden layoffs, pay properly' which you have mentioned in your post is something that cannot be generalized and really depends on the firm.If it is a reputed firm and has a reputation of being good pay masters then you need not worry.

Would they sponsor visa - I believe few big firms sponsor working visa for Europe as the firm I spoke about earlier in my post has agreed to sponsor my friend's visa.

That is all the information I have and hope it comes handy when you have to make a decision at some point.

Can say a little bit about France...
It depends on contract as well. If you have CDI (contract of undetermined duration) it's quite hard to lay you off once you completed your probation period... It will be impossible just to let you know that you've been fired... You can be fired only for economic situation or "faute grave" hard fault... Your probation period normally for CDI is about 6 month (but depends on your contract).. during this period the employer can fired you or you can quit very easy...

There is also a CDD (Contract of Determined Duration) this is a contract for a specific length of time. Also, it's not so easy to lay you off before the end of the contract. Good advantage of this contract in France, is employer pays you an allocation after the end of the contract... or CDD can become a CDI... There is also a probation period, but it depends on the duration of your contract... OF course, if it's for 1 day, there is no such period... ;)
