Have you planned which cities in Spain you will be going to / want to go to? It will be easier for ILites to give you helpful information if you are more specific.
I'm assuming you will probably go to Barcelona and Madrid. I have been to Barcelona and it is a lovely city. There is a lot to see in and around Barcelona. You can easily spend 3-5 days. Accomodation - we took up an apartment in the downtown of the city. Travelling around the city for sightseeing is very easy since there are tourist buses run by the city of Barcelona. You can get on and off at any stop of your interest and do as many trips as you want to - depending on the kind of tickets you buy.
