Harrasment and Stalking of a desi mom and kid!

Hi all of you at Bay area, California.
This is really weird but my friends and I have been getting phone calls and peer pressure from some desi people in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Milpitas to harass this desi mom and her kid. We are told she is a nasty person and is very rude. Our husbands at work have also been notified to harass her and keep track of all her activities. We know her from a couple of months and she is friendly and goes out of the way to help people. She has not been rude to us.
We are very uncomfortable about this as stalking and harassment is against the law. Any lawyer out there please advice. If anybody else has been approached let us know. We are a group of us who are now making friends with her, as what is happening to her today can happen to us tomorrow.

I live in the bay area too and have never heard of anything like this. Why should you harass someone you don't even know? Next time you get a call tell them you will report it to the police!

It's plain wrong both legally and morally. Why should you do this to some woman, a mother and a kid.. whatever bad the situation is, what would this little kid would have done to go through this?

Please don't do it and report it to police about this incident. Poor lady whoever she is, whatever she might have done, she might be in danger..

Thanks for your comments Mythraeyi and Nandu. These people do not give a call at random. Only the people they know will not complain against them are approached to harass this mom and her kid. Some of the harassment ranges from glaring at her and her kid with hatred, till they get scared, laughing at her and her kid, blocking access to the play equipment in parks to her kid, spitting at her, putting stuff in her stroller when she is shopping so she can be caught stealing, telling the men to dash against her so she gets hurt. This mom's immediate neighbours have been told to keep an eye on her and make phone calls to let this group know when she is leaving her house so they can send people to follow her. People have been told to imitate her from her walking style to dressing style, eating etc. They also tell her where she has been and what she did the previous day. The main object is to drive her crazy - can you imagine the cruelty that desis can do this to another desi mom and kid. People of other nationalities are also involved.

This mom is absolutely innocent as far as we are concerned and did not have even a shouting match with anyone.

Our group has already been a witness to her harassment and we need some more evidence to approach higher authorities. Therefore this request: If anyone wants to give additional information and it is valid, you will be rewarded very well.

Our group expected more comments of outrage than this!!!

Why are you waiting for evidence? The authorities will take care of that. Just imagine the emotional trauma both will be going through. Just tell them and show your phone history, that should suffice for the authorities to kick start the investigation.

Is she an Indian? Then I would suggest you to take the matter to the Indian Consulate in San Francisco. Please take it to the attention of The Consul General or the Consul of Community Affairs. You will get the contact details from the website www.cgisf.org

You can start by asking these people to get a life!
This is ridiculous. I have never heard of anything like this before!

To answer Nandhu, we are trying to get someone to come forward with something they witnessed which was more serious than what we witnessed. This mom has already approached the authorities once but was insulted as she did not have any witnesses other than her husband. We need more witnesses to make the authorities to take us seriously than someone playing childish pranks on her and her kid.

Thanks writeme for your suggestion to approach the Indian consulate. Again it is better to approach all these auhorities with something more concrete than what we have at present.

Sundarusha - stalking and harassment is very common in US and according to the FBI website every second women gets stalked at least once in her lifetime.

I don't really understand the head and tail of it.

First of all,

- Who are those people who are calling you? Are they your friends or from some kind of social group?
- Did that lady concerned know about the fact that she's being harassed. If so why can't she just lodge a complaint.
- Did any of you talk to her or her husband related to this?

Are we on earth or some other planet? Spineless people. If you think you can do any good to her call the cops right away.

BTW, I live in bay area for almost 9 years now. Have never heard of any such incident happening. How can people from Milpitas harrass a woman and kid living in santa clara/sunnyvale. Didn't get the logic. These cities are 10-20 miles away from each other. Feel something fishy here.

You know the people being harassed and you know the people who are calling you to harass her. Why don't you report it to police? The people calling you to harass are friends like that lady.You are supporting this cruel people by not reporting it. You are still friends with this people.And you don't report it to police and coming to a forum full of strangers and asking for witnesses. Do you understand how weird this is?

Your group who are trying to save this lady by not reporting to Police, get a life.
