regarding the IL ABUDHABI -meet ......how about wanasa land in al wahdha mall......here in one play area children will not be allowed outside without their parents.......so we can also be peaceful.....and one more thing any of you have taken this kelloggs K challenge.......if so how is it?have you seen any results?....last but not the least .thank you very much nemo for your reply...sooooooo sweet of you...

Thanks for the venue suggestion but Wanasa Island at Al Wahda was our last meet venue...
We are looking for a different venue this time.

welcome to abudhabi..its a lovely place to live in.i'am here for more tha 5 yrs..regarding you queries.
q1.two bed room apartments starts from 70000dhms per year..no idea abt the agents.
q2.there are very good schools with CBSE,british and american curriculam....we dont have DPS in abudhabi..getting admission is not a big deal..yes ofcourse some schools do have a lot system.....but dont worry you have a huge number of schools to select.
q3.good nurseries are also there.common ya you are coming to the capital of a country..why do you have to worry for such basic things...we have all the facilities here.
q4.we will get part time maids easiy..full time maids dhs1500 minimum and regarding sponsoring a maid i think its bit costly nowadays....
social scene is pretty good....malls, hospitals,parlors etc,etc..we have loads of them......so many indian organizations are there, where we can take part actively..sponsoring your mother ......i think it depends upon the company your husband works.i'am not sure about this.......

Your quiries regarding Abudhabi

1. The Accomodation if you are choosing your own it is very difficult to get a good apartment or villa even at a higher price. Now a days rental price is Dhs.160000p.a onwards for a 2 bedroom apartment and for 3 bed it is 180000p.a onwards. For villas it is 250000 onwards.

2. For schools, we've a mix of every syllabus but very difficult to get admission if u r moving in between academic year. As for nursuries there are a lot, but the sarah nursery, little bud's, noha's ark are few of them pls check the following link

3. About maids, u can bring one based on your husband's salary and status, and also there r part time maids but very difficult to get one.

4. Weather wise UAE is much cooler than Kuwait and the climate is not that much harsh.
5. To hang out, lot of malls are there. Marina mall, Abudhabi mall, Al wahda mall, Khalidiya mall and if this much is not enough u can have the entire Dubai malls.

6.Plz refer the other posts on beauty saloons.

7. health sector is much better than kuwait plz refer the other links on AUH doctors.

8. I think u can have your mother with u under special permits. Again depends on your spouse's job status. Plz check the Abudhabi govt site for further info.

The housing is so very expensive.Its very cheap here, when compared to the UAE standards.
Planning to visit this weekend to have an idea about the place and the schools, are the school offices open on sat??I am planning to come on fri morning and leave by sat night.

i have an idea....why not Marks & spencer in electra. adj to Etisalat. they have a kids activity centre there. Playground.. its 45dhs for the whole day.. the kids can play in there.. and we can sit aside and gossip.. let me know.. if anyone is planning to go.
