every day there is a show in discovery channel in usa about haunted houses and paranormal institute of california which has confirmed the presence of these ghosts.it is very much real

Did I scare the hell of all...................It was not all intentional.

I have been avoiding the topic since long,but could not stop myself penning it down here.I did not get sleep yesterday night till the time Sachin came back.Someone was going to India,So he was there to bid them farewell...Even Avni was fast asleep............He came back at around 1:00am and he did scare me up as I was half sleepy and lights were put off as Avni does not to sleep with the lights on.............

Really an interesting topic. well i also dont believe in ghosts but whenever i see a horror or scary movie it just scares me for a few days. the movies only hindi. i just cant bear to see english horror movies as they are too much for me but i like seeing sometimes horror movies.
once after my marriage we had gone to our village with my 4 cousins and aunts and uncles. our village is typically very far off without any street lights etc. and there are small villas everywhere.
me and the cousins were sitting in the verandah outside talking about ghosts and ghost stories. one of my uncle who is very young actually joined us and who knew about the village was talking of spirits in the village. after about 1/2 hour or so suddenly there was a large shadow over us and we all ran away inside the hall where all elders were sitting. all of us were wide eyed. then we told them the story.
as the village does not have street lights. even if someone is passing maybe that person's shadow came and we got scared but till now when i think of that incident it gives me goose bumps.

second incident which comes to mind is 2-3 days after marriage my dh aunt who had come from the village and his cousins we were sitting and talking about ghosts in one of the rooms. (specifically she was telling about an incident where she said that whenever anyone calls ur name dont reply or that churail will kill u. after the fourth call turn back before that u shud not turn back.)after an hour my mil called me and said that go and give this food to ur sil (who stays in the next building - same compound). i was hesitant as it was already 12.00 in the night and she started wondering y i m not going. then after a lot of courage i went. the compound is dark in the night - the lights are all off. when i was going i heard my name being called nd obviously i got scared. i started sweating. after my name was called fourth time, i turned back and i saw all the cousins with whom i was sitting doing this on purpose and laughing.
after that when my dh came to know he shouted at them and told them not to tell me ghost stories. even when i pursuaded them too much, then also they did not tell me anything more.

i guess the ghosts are more glorified due to the serials and movies.

I am very very scared of ghosts. I am not convinced that they do not exist, I carry that doubt always, I even dread to see ghost serials and movies, if at all I muster guts and see the movie after that I start imagining things, even if the curtain moves I am scared of that. But you see my curiosity to know more about their existence has drawn me to this topic.

ghosts / spirits is an interesting topic to me. I just love to hear stories or experiences of havin sighted one.

I read a lot of stephen King's books and have also watched horror movies in theaters and at home. I guess i like the 'scared to death' feeling i get from watching or reading them...)

I believe in ghosts. I have a strong intuition abt such things.

i havent really seen any ghosts as such but i think i have experienced weired things happening in my house.

The area where we stay apparantly was once a graveyard but now when u see it, you wont believe it, because the layout has been developed into a posh locality.

Whenever my husband travels and i am alone at nite, i have these weird experiences.

Like this one time, when my husband was travelling and i was alone with my baby girl. Our master bedroom is on the first floor. We usually keep the night lamp on since my daughter gets scared of the dark.

Suddenly the light went off and there was total darkness. I got up and went to the window to check if the power had gone everywhere. There was power outside.
So, i walked downstairs (rmmbr the movie bhooth) and into the kitchen - all in the dark, just groping along the wall....i switched on the light in the kitchen not really expectin light to flood the room but surprise! the kitchen light came on....there was power everywhere in the house expect our bedroom!!!!

Another occassion, is when i heard vessel noises from my kitchen, as if some1 is washing them in the middle of the night. when i come down into the kitchen, there wud be no one.

Once, when my husband and i had shut our bedroom door. suddenly there was a loud knocking on the door. My husband climbed out to see who it cud be and there was no one!!!! we stay alone, so who cud have knocked on our bedroom door???

My husband and i have heard water flowing noises and bucket noises coming in the dead of the night from our house....

there have been instances when i have felt some1 is standing near my bed when i am sleeping. It would look like a form which would soon disappear when i suddenly wake up sensing it....

I have got used to it by now and just ignore these outward incidents. I believe in ghosts. My philosophy is if they do exist in my house, they are not harming me. so why should i be scared of them....

But my daughter (ever since birth) cries a lot at night, wakes up suddenly crying many times in the night....

Thanks a lot for scaring the wits out of me!!!

Hats off to you for learning to live with the ghosts (if they do exist in your house) ... I would have been freaked to my guts end ... I would have decided to shift and live elsewhere ... maybe even migrated!
But you may be right ... if the ghosts are really there, they arent harming you. So you dont need to be scared of them ... hhhmmm ...
And hope your daughter adapts to this as well ...

Even I'm also interested in knowing about the secrets of the life (!) after death....! but how can we...? nobody knows it before they die... or after death,...they won't come and explain their experiences... in this case everybody of us is a 'Nasikethu' only..

In my childhood days,... all of us- three sisters were brought up in our Grandma's care- in a small village near Thiruvarur, Tamilnadu...
there,... I've heard a lot of ghost stories through neighbours... Even I've seen a girl- who was said to have a ghost of a muslim man in her body...- behaving peculiarly... according to me,.. she had no reasons to behave like that...and she was not a mental patient too... because, other than some particular times,...she behaved very normally...
suddenly at some unexpected moments,.... she will behave strangely like looking at the sky with a different emotion on her face with unknown anger...
oneday, myself and my younger sister went to that home, where we used to go for a tution,... suddenly this girl gave me a slap and started laughing very loudly with a strange voice... I didn't know how we began to run and reached our home... after that the girl was treated with some holy saints and taken to many temples and got cured... now she is happily living with her 2 kids...
why even our father was affected by such unknown spirits for quite some time... and our family suffered a lot... though my mom was brought up in that small village and was very innocent, she faced the problem very boldly, struggled for an year to solve that with us, 5 kids in those days...
wait,... i've not come to the main part,..
Before marriage, i was working with a IT co., at saidapet, chennai,... I used to go by train only...i've to walk through a bridge - Adyar bridgeto the station daily...
Oneday,.. at 3 pm..u see, it was not even evening... day with sunlight,...!!! As usual, I started walking on the bridge,...alone. nobody was around me... Suddenly,.. I felt like my braided hair was pulled by somebody...!!!. and my shoulder bag was also pulled at the same time...!!!
I just turned back to look who's that thinking that might be some small kids residing in the slums near the Adyar river... but, there was nobody....
Initially, it was like a funny and strange feeling for me... again, I thought " this may be because, the strong wind blowing..." but that was a hot sunny day with no wind...
I walked fast towards the station... but the 'pullings' were continuing... I didn't know what to do... Whom I could share this... That was a strange feeling for me with lots of people around me walking to and fro in the busy roads of the station...
Though I catched my usual train towards Thambaram,... and was standing amid of the crowd,... this feelings continued... till a station- Pazavanthangal.... suddenly, I remembered - near that only I used to go to an Anjaneya temple- nanganallur... One minute, I prayed to him to get rid of this peculiar thing....
to my astonishment,... that "pullings' stopped suddenly at that station itself... Can u believe this...?? those who read this may think that i'm very scared person believe in ghosts a lot... May be or may not be, but i don't scare.... becoz I believe that if we r not guilty of anything / didn't do any sin n we r true to God we shouldn't fear of anything...
wait,.. one more thing,... I went to my office the next day also in the same path itself ...until I resigned my job after 1 and 1/2 years... my mom only feared a lot for me...!!!
one more incident is there- latest...!
will tell u tomorrow... and my opinions till that wait my dear friends.... have scary dreams...!!!

Hi All,
I am scared of ghosts but always very keen to hear stories related to ghosts from my granny when I was a kid........
I still have some kind of fear whenever I am alone......I used to keep all the lights on ans also TV/sound system on all the time but in a very low volume so that if I see a BHOOT at least I could make people hear my scream........
And for my unfortunate studies, I had to develop photographs in dark rooms......pinch dark most of the time and I could feel so many spirits moving around me.....funny thing is that even in that dark room where I couldn't see anything, I used to keep my eyes closed until I put on the lights after developing the photographs.......

Jaya Sweetie......how could you expect us to sleep and have sweet dreams after reading your post........I could even get an heart attack if I have ever to stay alone in my house ......OMG......you know here in USA, the houses are made of timber and they used to produce funny sounds most of the time......as we stay in the top floor, these are more prominent to us and at first I used to get up middle of the night when some leaf or fruit fall on the roof......but now have become used to it.....sometimes the squirrels run all around the roof making terrible sound......
But in spite of all this, I am still doing good in my home.....
Have you seen the movie " THE OTHERS", it's a movie where you will see that another world of spirits also co-exist with us human being......a little disturbing though....
