Welcome to IL.. I am Sylvia, a home maker.. I am married with a son who is 5 years old.. My son's name is Anish.. He studies in Our Own English High School in UKG.

My husband is a Oracle Projects Consultant in ENOC..

I moved to Dubai in February 2007 and I was totally lost.. no friends and family here.. sob sob sob.. But thanks to IL. I have loads of friends now..

Recently, the IL women have been meeting with familes/kids.. Please visit this thread for more details of our meet.. Indians in Bur Dubai!! - what can we do to make better use of our time?

we have scheduled our next meet on 12th June, thursday in Reef mall in Diera.. Please let me know if you can make it.. It will be a good chance to meet some women and start some good friendships..

Thanks Babita, for being sooo alive in these threads.. How is avni now? About your query.. I dont think she is small for her age.. Size is largely determined by genes.. there is very little we can do about it.. so, dont fret.. When we met in Musalla Towers, I saw Avni as a very active kid.. she was all over the place and she was willingly eating the dosa from you.. So, i dont think there is anything to worry about.. just chill..

So, what else is happening??

Thank you so much for your kind words.Atleast little assured about Avni.I am very over concerned mother.I get concerned about everything about her.Maybe because she came into my life after some problem.I had problems initially in my pregnancy.

Nothing happening.But we should make something happen.How is Anish ? And Ram.Is he coming in a time now ? Where is our Coffee Chat Host nowdays.Hope everything is fine.

Dear Babita,

Being over concerned about our kids is sometimes good.. I am also an over concerned mom.. I talk to anish everyday about school and I want to know everything that is going on with him.. If he looks sad when he gets off the school bus, i get very worried..

Yesterday, me and Preethi were on the phone for a long time discussing the same subject.. Apparently, Preethi is also a concerned mother.. Well, you see now.. you have sooo many friends..

Anish was quite plump until he started walking but after that he has been a stick.. atleast Avni has some flesh.. I used to worry sooo much about his diet.. But now that he is going to be 5 years old, things have settled down.. he eats better. Kids need to get a lot of exercise to spend their energy so that they can get tired and feel hungry.. that is something we are not able to achieve in Dubai... what to do..

The pool party is pending. the pot luck is pending.. what are we doing?? Lets wake up and do something...

Thanks for the lovely reply. It would be great to meet IL ladies on 12th june. I will try to come to reef mall if nothing spurts up at the last moment. What time has been fixed?I live in sharjah (Al Tawun Road) so I will also have to chek the taxi availability at that time. As u know now cab drivers refuse to go at particular time!! but I am excited to meet everyone as I dont have a very active social life here.
Yesterday one of my family friends came over to see the match. Since my husband came very late last nite so it was not boring for me to watch the match. Their child, who studies in Our own was all so hyper the entire match so to keep up with his spirit we too were excited.:)

2day morning is very boring. Its 12 pm and still I havent had breakfast. Guess i hav eto have brunch now.:)

I had written a long mail to post, but unfortunately pressed the back key in the laptop & all lost.... :( The amount of thoughts lost... I hope I don't do that blunder again :D

Well Slyvia, I checked out, & can have the pool-time in my place. I know some of you might be concerned about the depth of the pool, but if we too are in the pool, the kids are in good hands.... We can discuss about it in detail, when we all meet up in Reef mall.

Babita.... Over-concered Mother? Isn't everyone? There is never a time when we are satisified... we have to an anxiety attack on every milestone of theirs... Be it the first day of nursery or KG1 or higher school. We know we must not compare our kids with kids of similar age, but we always do it... about their development, their height, their structure, studies, everything... even the way they behave... OLD HABITS DIE HARD!

Will pen down more next time...
