Just came across this site, I am Pallavi ,have shifted to Dubai a month back with my husband and just getting settled to new life here.
also I am expecting ... so not planning to work right now . I am putting up in Marina area and would like to get in touch with you all,,,,
I am a fashion design graduate from NIFT, i was running my own business back in India , have to still figure out what i will do here...any ladies working from home here?

also, we are planning to use either welcare or midcare hospitals as they have good Indian doctors on board, can anyone advice which is better ,also both are far from Marina,
do you think it will be a problem to travel specially during later months when visit becomes more frequent. Do guide me on this.

Welcome to IL.Firstly let me congratulate the soon to be mommy.I am Babita.I stay in Deira.I am a magalorean born and brought up in Mumbai)(suburbs to be precise)but in-laws are settled in Mangalore have a 2 year old daughter who goes to a Nursery.I am stay-at-home.Even I am looking out some oppnities for working from home.

I don't know about both the hospitals.but I am sure many of ILites will give all the information needed.Just keep posting.But one think travelling too much distance will be a problem during the last months.So just lookout for some good hospital nearby.

My younger who is married for over a year is also a trained Fashion Designer from SNDT college,Mumbai.She worked for around 6 months before getting married.But now she is a homemaker,planning to have a baby soon,so that she can start her career.

I am from Delhi , but have lived in Bangalore and Hyderabad for 2-3 yrs . My college was in ahemdabad so i have stayed there for 3 years and have visited mumbai 2-3 times.. thus , i am more of an all india person now :)

its nice to find so many friends on this website , how is to raise a kid in dubai,,
i have heard some of my friends cribbing that there is not much life for kids once they are home from school , as there are no community areas or parks etc.

Congratulations for your sister ,,, is she also in 2nd trimester?
do also give me some tips you are suggesting her :) , tis my first time and i am really wishing i had some elder people around...

No Dear she is not pregnant.She is trying to concieve,but have some thyroid problem.Surely many of us will happily give you advcie and tips in IL.But someone said in previous post just keep a happy frame of mind.And try take a stroll everyday.Have you gone through the pregnacy thread ?It's very informative.Trying posting ur queries there.

Yes your friends are correct.But it depends where you stay.If there are parks and other enetertainment for kids near your house,then no problem.You can also take them to nearby malls as all malls have playarea.

So how did u like the place ? Where all have you been ?Now it's summer.Once winter starts it will be very pleasant outside.

oo 13yrs is a long time... how u like the place,, its been a month for me, i dont knw, finding it slightly diffrent, like people are not so social and welcomign like India. but may be I am wrong .
I was in Hyderabad for a year before coming to Dubai ,, enjoyed great weather and biryani there... eat street at lake is good hangout.

I was generally setting up my house n stuff,, lets see wht i do now, i dont plan to do a job as of now as I am expecting,, trying to figure out some productive way to pass time, you say wht u do and who all are there in ur family?

Me and my kids love dubai.. eh people are busy with work and home but you can
find good friends in IL

My DH is working in Shipping company and i have 2 sons My MIL also is with us
I am working ... so my time flies v fast

You should take rest and eat well at this time enjoy your pregency
