Default Moving to Bradford, West Yorkshire

Hi frens,

I am relocating from Bangalore to Bradford next month. So, as u all know.. the setting up of a house is the biggest responsibility for me now.

Can somebody tell me where I can buy pressure cooker, mixers and grinders at a reasonable rate.
I heard that they are pretty expensive there. Can I get good quality used items through some second hand website or something.

Please suggest.

Thanks in advance,
Hema.

Hi Hemaramamoorthy:

Welcome to Indusladies!

You can buy pressure cooker and food processors at Tesco or Argos (online as well on their websites) but in my opinion you could buy it in India and carry them with you. While pressure cookers in the UK shouldn't be any different from those in India - I feel the mixers that you get in the UK are not designed for making good idli / dosa batters.

About grinders, I'm not sure you get them everywhere - my guess you might get them in London.

The prices might seem on the higher side but they sort of balance out if put in your shipping charges, etc. My :)

hi hema,

as mentioned above by sindhu u can get it in argos oe even tesco. But u can also buy this stuff in TJ hughes in a very affordable price. I am sure there is a branch in Bradford. So i would reckon u to buy it here rather than carrying all the way from home...

Piece of thought...

hope it helps

Sindhu, Kasturi,

Thanks a lot for your useful info. I was infact a lil confused on whether to carry them or to buy them there. Will surely take your advice on this.

Also, I would greately appreciate if you could suggest me some good daycare in n arnd Bradford. My son is 1.5 yrs old and I want to place him in a good day care as I would go to work in sometime.

Hi Hema:

I have no idea about daycare in Bradford, Yorkshire. But you could check out the ofsted site which the government website which certifies nursery / childcare, etc. And here is a list in bradford you could start with. It is convenient if the daycare is close to our place of work or home. So if you have decided where you will reside, it will be easier for you to single out the nursery.

Hope this helps.

Sindhu
