Fashionable lenghas

Hi all, just wanting some advice. I've been sent a lengha from India for an upcoming wedding. It is beautiful, but the skirt is quite flary. In recent years, the trend seems to have been for more tighter fitted lengha skirts e.g straight-cut, fish-tail etc. Do you think I can wear this as I don't want to look old-fashioned.
If you have been to any recent wedding/parties what style of lenghas were people wearing?
