    Sister RoomaL,

:welcome to IL family, Children will adapt to environment very soon, Don't worry,

I have seen many students who have adapted both circumstances atleast till the age of 15, your kiddo is three and may be a couple of years later too back in India adjustment is possible.

But watch out for the Language back in India If you need too. select them accordingly, Take Care, May Baba guide you always, SAIRAM

At three, he would not have any trouble. Even if he doesn't know english, nurseries and schools are usually brilliant in bringing the children out of their shell. the unwritten expectation from the schools usually is for kids to be independent - be able to feed themselves, use the toilet, identify their stuff, dress themselves, take off and hang up their jacket / coat, wear their jacket / coat on their own, pull on the socks and shoes, ask politely for what they want etc. It is not mandatory that the child knows all this but it helps them settle.

About going back to india, if this is on the cards, you will find that the academics are more intensive in India. Not to say they lag here, but it is more application oriented here => there is no pressure to mug up and recite the days of the week or months of the year or even the alphabet. they encourage the child to become better in what they are good at rather than reprimand them for lagging behind somewhere else. There are additional tuitions available too for any rote learning that several kids go to.

The real issue would be with the second language when you return. For this, many mums equip themselves with age-appropriate 2nd language material from India and teach their kids themselves. There are several regional language tutors should you need them too.

The cut off date for school is Aug 31 and admissions are strictly according to this date. He will anyway only be eligible to go to preschool until the September after his fourth birthday. The September after his fourth birthday he'll be in Reception.

right now, you would certainly be able to find a preschool for him. Look in the ofsted website for early years educators and you will be able to find nurseries and preschools in your area.
