Default Re: Indian Ladies in Houston - Meet here!

hi Priyanka ,
I work near Galleria. I dont want to give the name of my company on the web. If you can, please send me a pvt. msg. I can talk more freely there. I'm a permanent employee. Any reason why you dont want to move to Houston? After all, u r alone? Isn't travelling every weekend strenuous?

hi Chaitali,
i cannot read and write all of them, though. Only Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and obviouosly English! Malayalam, i know a few letters. Tamil....! Blank! But I try to speak different slangs.. like Madras Tamil, Kovai Tamil etc.."vandaaplae.. poonaplae", lol ! Unless I tell them, many will not know I am from Hyd! I believe language is for communication. To bring people together, not divide them. What better way to communicate than knowing as many languages as you can!

Shri,
Thanks, for all the info!

regards,
Sharada

Shri,
Guess you were talking about my words about languages and communication. I wrote what I feel. Thank you anyways.
Mind you, it was not easy... several times I did put my "foot in the mouth" ! For a long time I did not know the difference between "inge yaa?" (Is it here?) and "inge vaa?" (come here!) . I would say "inge vaa" for everything! For the life of me, I couldn't understand why my BIL's eyes would pop out when ever i say that!!

Hilarious, isn't it? we had a great laugh after a few years!!

Regards,
Sharada

Hi All,
I apologize for the delay in responding. My project is in Baton Rouge and I am travelling every week Mon-thu and this has become very hectic. Absolutely no time to even check emails.

Sharada,
Sorry I was unable to make it to the meet. I will try and make it next time. Also please let me know if you know of any local SAP Basis positions with minimum travel. I am planning to change jobs as this is becoming tough. I have 5 years basis+sec exp.

I have joined the group in Orkut as well. I will try and keep posting message often.

How is everyone else doing?

Take Care
Kalpana

Manisha,
Welcome to the group. I live in the 77077 zipcode area. There are lot of apartments on Eldridge parkway (Amli, Village, Bridges of Eldridge, Trails, San Montego). Please check the websites for each of these apartments and the reviews. We live in a residential complex very close to Dairy Ashford and Briar forest but I have not seen a lot of apartment complexes on Dairy Ashford. Dairy Ashford is the next street parallel to Eldridge.

Good Luck
Kalpana

Hi Kalpana,

We signed a lease just yesterday for an apartment on Dairy Ashford. The apartment name is Briar Meadows. Do you also happen to live in the same community? Is that a safe area? Are there any Indians around? There is an Indian res called Ashiana right next door.

I have seen Briar meadows Apartment complex, ( i dont know if you are referring to the same one- the one in I-45 feeder road, somewhere by sawdust rd?)- When we moved to the area couple months ago, we checked them out, wasnt so " pretty" so we passed. It just seemed like the property wasnt maintained, seemed kinda ghetto. But again, its just my perception.

I live in The Woodlands area, there is one Indian grocery store ( on a feeder road- by Sitara cuisine).

Meenloch, I read somewhere that you went to a Chinese grocery store but was far from your place. Well, I found this grocery store the other day at 1960 ( i think you are somewhere by 1960?) Its called Hongkong food market at Veterans Memorial drive. Check 'em out!! I absolutely love it.

There was another member here who was into medical research/clinical/science field, cant seem to remember who it was. I am looking for an entry level job in medical/clinical/laboratory field. It seems like every person I know from our part the world is in IT field, I just wish I know more ppl from the field I am in. The networking will make my 'not so fruitful' job search a lil easier. It'd be nice if I can contact you. Please let me know.

Thanks everyone!! have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Hi Chaitali,
Dairy Ashford and Briar Forest is a safe area. We have been living here for around 2 years. I live very close to where you are. May be 2 miles from your apartment complex but I do not know any indians around in this area. All our neighbors are americans. You may be able to find some indians in your apartment complex.Give me your private email id and we can probably meet sometime as we are so close.

Take Care

@Houstonian

Nope. I was referring to the apartments at the junction of Dairy Ashford and Briar Forest. This area is called Energy Corridor which is south of I10.

@Kalpana,

My husband relocated to Houston from Memphis couple of months ago due to his job. I am still in Memphis looking desperately for a job in Houston. We have plans of relocating to Houston completely by the end of this month. We can probably meet then.
