Hey vidya.....I still dont know when diwali is. My mom says thursday and my MIL says friday. I think celebrating it on friday would be a little more convenient if nothing else coz the husbands can come a lil early.

Anyways do u know whats going on in Meenakshi temple this weekend? Are there any programs?

I stumbled upon this site by a google search and am glad I found it. I have lived in Denver,Colorado for about 8 years and we think we are about done with the cold weather. We are planning to move to TX and still wondering which would be a better place to live? Dallas Metro or Houston Metro? I have seen many comparisions on the city-forums, but would like to hear the comments from a Desi perspective.

My husband and I both work for a company, that permist WFH so we do not have any restrictions to moving anywhere in US. But we decided TX for the warmer weather. I read the entire blog of you ladies meeting at Meenakshi temple and other places.. just can't imagine all the fun you all are having... I hope I could be a member of your group and get all the advise I can about Houston,TX

We are fed up staying in hot weather ( for u it's reverse I suppose) . And that applies to Dallas as well. 8 months of the year it's hot and remaining two months it's cold. I am a new comer comapared to others in this thread. If one has to rank, houston and dallas are the same. Both are international cities both are hot, both have lots of career opportunities, both have lesser places/ activities to do during weekends compared to other states in the US (Houston might be slightly better in this regard.), both have a big indian janta ( Houston's is scattered across it's huge area though). I have a friend who has stayed in Dallas for two years and moved to Houston an year back. She s not on Indusladies, but I can find this out from her and get back to you.

So much is what I have heard from people so far. I have an option to move from Houston to Dallas, but it ll not suit my husband's career who is a mech Engineer. I have an admit there.

As for our gang here, we have met once. Looking fwd to more meets though. Four couples
