Default Texas - A wonderful place during Winters

Currently the northern parts of US are covered with snow.
In our recent trips to Northern part, we saw the cities submerged in snow.
It was a beautiful sight, not having seen so much snow before, but the the residents there have to clean the mess everyday.

The ones who have their own houses have to clean the snow in their pathways, every single day during winters. If they delay, it gets harder, as it will be ice ( not snow) beneath.

Also it gets depressing unable to get out of home for long periods of time. Office goers have to pack themselves with coats and sweaters making it uncomfortable.

People there have accepted it as a part of their life.

After the trips, it was so relieving to be back in a warmer weather.
The summer months are horrible here. No doubt about that, but winters are so pleasant.

Some of the days it's difficult, but at least we get to see sun and feel it's warmth once in a week even in worst case.

We should count our blessings

Dear Meenloch,

Very true - we should count our blessings living in Texas and enjoying warmth even during winter though it gets cold may be once in couple of days, but no where close to Northern regions.

My husband did his MBA in Northwestern University, Illinois. He just could not take the cold during those 2 years of stay there that he decided to move to Texas on taking a job offer here just before our marriage. So I safely landed in Texas in May 2004 during those hot summer days. Though summer is really hot here in Texas, it is still manageable especially our origins being Chennai.

Great discussion and I guess more IL'ites living in Texas will come forward to share their views.

Malathy
