Exclamation New traffic violations penalties in Virginia

Hey Virginians,
Some of you might already know that State of Virginia has imposed new civil charges for traffic violations as of July 1, 2007. The civil penalty for going 20 mph over the speed limit will be $1,050, plus $61 in court costs and a fine that is typically about $200. That is $1300+ to hand over to the State Govt!
So now I have started keeping this in mind as I go rushing home on the 267 West Tollway.
Also, these civil penalties apply only to Virginia residents!
So Virginia ladies beware and safe driving.
Regards
Gayathri

Post Re: New traffic violations penalties in Virginia

Hi Gayathri,

Happened to see this thread only today. I am new to this site (joined a few days back). I am in Glen allen, Virginia (near Richmond). How far is Herdnon from here?
We moved to Virginia from California about 18 months back. Have been in US for the past 8 years.
Is this the thread for the Indians in Virginia to connect?

You are right about the traffic rules. Nowadays, they have increased the watch , especially near the schools. We are expected to drive only 25mph when the lights are flashing in school areas. Totally strict and we need to be extremely cautious too!!

Thanks
Jithiks(Krithika)

Hi Nandshyam

It is good that u are happy not to be in Virginia. But this practice has helped us to be better and safe drivers!
In a way, it has really improved our patience and careful driving.

Krithika, Nandshyam
I have not logged in for sometime.
Actually the traffic rule that I mentioned has been revoked by the legislators of the State of Virginia early this year! So that is one good news.

But we need to be safe and defensive drivers always! I am more so now that I have a child to think about.

Krithika,
The thread for Virginians to connect is this one (you might have already figured this out) - http://www.indusladies.com/forums/in...html#post23730

I am not sure how far Glen Allen is from Herndon. Herndon is 3 miles from Dulles International Airport.

Regards
Gayathri

Hi Gayathri,

Yu are right... that traffic rule has been revoked after multiple petitions.

Thanks for directing me to the link of Washington D.C.

But I am surprised how ladies from Virginia come under this category??!!

Anyway, would post in that link from now on...isnt there a separate thread for Virginia?

Cheers
Krithika ( Jithiks)
