i am moving to singapore by jan. my maid here wud like to come with me and has agreed to responsibilities, salary, terms etc. do u know any agencies who deal with indian maids? i thght it would be best to gather more info from some one who has taken maid from india before i go ahead n get passport done for her. shes well trained and im comfy with her. do ppl get maids from india, i mean is it common?

pls also guide me probs that i or maid may face once we r there.

Usually the website Ministry Of Manpower has lots of info there.You can approach any agency here to do the paperwork for you.However, there are some people who do everything themself. Just make sure that your maid fulfills all criteria before you bring her here.

Also, one setback is ..whatever contract you make between yourselves. if she were to go back, you might end up paying her airfare back. Also, if you are a first timer ,you have to undertake a Employer Orientation Course.

Its common for people to get maids from India,but usually it depends..some poeple have good maids.. some end up having lazy bones

peekyboo has given u enough info. But be very careful, explain her the work etc. Work load and work order is different in India and here. See to that u are first clear on your requirements etc....

If you are bringing the maid from India, she has to be atleast 8th class eduacation. Here Ministry of manpower held exam for all first time maid. This is to know that she knows the basic english. She has to pass that test or they return back to their respective country.

First thing she will be coming here on visit visas, U have to apply for her test.
She has to pass that test than only MOM provide Maid visas

My last maid I bought has to go back as she dint pass the test.
