| Hi all, As all may know.. there is ban of getting rices (except basmathi ) into singapore. So,what's subsitute for idli rice apart from idli rava? Or is idli rice back to the market.. |

| Hi Rani, Nowadays, I started using thai rice to make Idli / dosas...it's not that bad. just add one handful of urud dal more .... it comes out soft! However making idlis with idli rice or ponni rice is more soft & tasty. just try it!

| Yes some how i don't favour thai rice too... Closest to ponni rice idli rawa and idli comes out okay. Any relatives coming from india u can ask them to get 2 kgs and u have will have good idlis for few weeks atleast.... to keep your taste buds alive :) Exporting of rice seems problem everywhere just not here, even in europe. Cheers! |

| Hi rani, I am here for almost 9 yrs. & I am also from Chennai ( Anna nagar) Well, I too initially hated Thai rice for its stickiness...but slowly got used it. I buy AAA fragrant Thai rice for cooking from NTUC. And when we've guest at home for lunch or dinner I mix it with basmati rice...ratio 1:1 (to avoid the stickiness) it tastes good... almost like our ponni rice from Hi vidya, Try Thai rice & Basmati rice combination. It is better alternative option for ponni rice. Hope you like it.

However, personally I would recommend you to buy & try different brands available in the market. It depends on individual taste & preference. Currently, I am using “Thai Hom Then Rani, Idli rice is available at many stores in little This is the telephone number just call & check it out. 62969601.
