Planning to move to Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia

Hi All
We are planning to move to Al Khobar, and I would like to know what is life like in Al Khobar - I have gone thru the posts already in Indus Ladies. I am particularly interested to know the life in Compounds and ease of life there - i have a daughter - all info about living in Al Khobar would be greatly helpful.

My Name is Mohammad Rafi I live in khober it is very nice cool place and new city located 20km far from Dammam. You can find Indian food materials shopping centers in main city, Cornish with pleasant environment for wonderful weekend. Best of luck

1. Fooding expenses for a family of 3 persons
2. Indian TV Channels available there and its cost PM
3. Internet Connection Monthly Charges.
4. Availability of Restaurants serving North Indian food and Cost per Meal per person.
5. Availabilty of Ready to Eat Indian Food.
6. Area which is Good for Indians to live in Al Khobar
7. Availability of Part Time Domestic help for House Cleaning, Washing etc.

1 food expenses between below 1000 s.r dep on if u regularly buy packed food it may be a bit more
all indian tv channels are available if u buy pehla card star package and z plus
card cost is upto 150 sr or if u take cable it will be cheap 50 riyal
internet connection if u r having land line and go for dsl it is 150 sr per month for unlimited
lot of restaurants are there tat serve north indian food and pakistani food
may be with 2 curries 1 starter soup and rice it will cost 150-200 riyal dep on dish

cheaper hotels are also there where it may cost upto 80 sr
lot of ready indian ready to eat food packs are available so many apartments are there and also compounds are there u can choose according to your budget

domestic help is available .@ 200 sr per month 3 days a week

Dear All,
I am also moving to Al Khobar in October.

I am joining as a Engineer in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

I was initailly in Singapore so a bit skeptical about life in Saudi.

hello jayesh welcome to khobar .i think u will not regret your decision to move to khobar .but when compared to singapore life is restricted here. but if you take multiple reexit entry visa u find life equal to singapore in beharain and u can go there in weekends. ksa is dry but beharain is open in all aspects including multiplex where indian movies are screened.compound life is good but u should see what your motive is >
to save money or for enjoyment.if it is enjoyment saudi is a no no but to save money this is the best place in world

hi rubina there is akerala restaurant which serves north indian roti biryani and curries
if it is for daily basis for a single female food is cheaper and tastier .all single men will go for refular dinner there only it will not cost more than 25 riyals for parotha and curry or biryani what i gave in my prvious answer is for weekend outings .but if it is in daily routine most o restaurants are run by kearalites .and u can get roti and n.i dishes which will be around 20 -40 sr max
