Dear all, Please guide me on this. My daughter will begin school from april 2012 and since admissions have just started for the new academic year..... need following inputs.
    a) Which is a good school as on date in Doha for Kindergarten level.

    b) Do you know if i dont want my child to go in for CBSE, is there alternatives like ICSE or equivalent offered here , like we have in India.

    c) Does anyone send their children to an International school , if yes.... i would like to know more.

Awaiting your replies. Thanks a lot.

    Best wishes

Thanks a lot Bhuvnidhi. I looked up the options above but am a bit worried about IB curriculum since a) dont know if Indian kids study this b) dont know if this is available in India if we relocate. My husband thinks that we should go into ICSE or CBSE since the same can be continued in India as well in the future.

Since there r no ICSE schools here, guess we r only left out with CBSE. Can u guide me about which school is good for my child - i read in an earlier post that u have put ur child in DMIS. What is ur opinion about this school. R u happy with it. Can u tell me for KG-1 level, should i put her in DPS, BPS or DMIS purely from the view that she can grow with a good environment of teachers and kids. Appreciate ur help and reply on this.

    Best Wishes

    Hi Meera
Welcome to this forum, me too been around for just 3 months. Trust me, itz a great place to be.

My kidz attend the INternational School of Choueifat, they have a branch at DOHA too. Do check on their website www.sabis.com. If academics is your priority then go for it, as the curriculum is pretty intensive. French is the secong language which is well advanced too! My child started there at the age of 3 in KG 1.
Pls. do get back should you need any further details.

Meera, There are quiet a lot of Indian kids in IB schools here. They do get adjusted perfectly well.I have my reservations for choosing DMIS which I thought would be a cushion for my kid who goes to primary school.

    • For KG1 & KG2 , the school starts at 9:00 A.M unlike other schools who start at 7:15 A.M.
    • The school stresses more on extra curricular activities which I liked(purely my opinion).I do not want to stress my kid till 5th standard .
    • Less crowd in the class. The KGs get a teacher and helper at class.
    • The school has a proper building and play ground.(DPS & BPS are also building their own building now).
    • The school has a tie up with lot of clubs in Doha.
    • The school had a GEMS school affiliation(suppose to be good and prestigious) until recently and now they are under Taleb group.

But I would say that academic stress is very less in Doha in any school. We , the parents have to put in more effort to make the kid study.

Lot of things have changed(not so positive) in DMIS this year. And we parents are keeping our fingers crossed to see if things will turn out to be good next year.Be prepared to shell out more(money) if you choose DMIS(16000qrs+ per annum for a grade 1 CBSE-I student).IB schools are even expensive than DMIS.

BPS is also a very good school.Though I do not have first hand experience, from whomever I have heard ,there is always positive feedback.

You can check the website of DMIS,BPS and DPS for fee structure and other academic details.

Thanks Bhuvnidhi for ur detailed mail. I wish i could discuss DMIS with u in detail further since your reasons for choosing DMIS matches my concerns also as a mother.

What i specifically want to you is about a) What do u mean exactly by things have changed not positively. b) Does this affect my KG child. c) If i am looking at KG1 and KG2, and in the current situation - should i register for april 2012 with DMIS , BPS or DPS. c)Does the Taleb mgmt matter to me v/s GEMS (am asking since i am new here and dont know any historical facts)

Is it ok for me to ask you question on this page or should i call you up personally.

    best wishes
    Meera
