| | Liquidiser or blender ????
Hi friends,
I brought a preethi mixie from India when I came to UK .I was grinding dosa/idli batter in the big mixie jar.Suddenly some problem came to my jar and Iam unable to use it now.Since Iam pregnant now,I feel like eating dosas and idlis.Iam planning to buy one from here. But Iam confused if I should buy a 'liquidiser' or 'blender' for grinding the batter. And Iam not sure which company is the best.
Please help me with this.Should I buy a 'liquidiser' or 'blender' and which company will be the best.Friends who have already bought from here help me to sort out this.
Regards,
seeba.

Hello,
I had a osterizer blender. It worked quite well. Don't fill up the jar. Have it only half full with plenty of water. You could try and keep the soaked items in the fridge for an hour or two before grinding as this may prevent it from overheating.
Don't you get any readymade idly, dosa batter in the Indian grocery shops nearby? Another thing about osterizer blender is you might get a small plastic jar which inverts over the blade area for grinding smaller items like powder or chutneys. I got mine from an Indian shop. Its blade and plastic ring was the same size as the bigger jar.
I hope this helps you.

Hello Seeba,
Blender is better for dosa batter. You would find Philips and Kenwood varieties in Argos and Robert Dyas which are nearest ones to the Indian mixers like Preethi.
