Default Taking your child to India

Hello everyone

Planning to send my 2.5 year old daughter to India(tirupati to be precise) along with my parents.I was wondering what baby milk to follow. Can we give formula milk to this age group because right now she is on whole fat tesco milk but not sure what to do in India due to various factors like hygiene, adjustment to a different brand etc.
Any suggestions welcome.

Hi ,

From what my dad(doctor in India) says diarheo/vomiting related to milk is very common due to improper hygiene. We do get whole fat milk in India in Packet..But I am sure no one intakes it without adding tonnes of water..
Since she is 2.5, you can try limiting milk initially..Boiling properly and maintaining hygiene is utmost important.Complan, juniour horlicks etc can be added to milk..

I think at 2.5,she can very well take normal milk available in India. In India, normally everyone boils milk unlike here.Once milk is boiled, there should be no problem. If she cannot have plain milk, you can think of adding Junior Horlicks,Boost,Bournvita etc like Supriya says.

Please remember most of us have been born and brought up in India and have consumed the same milk and have survived so long...there is nothing wrong with the milk there. If you are careful and if you boil the milk in a clean vessel, you should have no problem.
