Dear ILites, Please share information about Indian restaurants/eateries in your area. Here are some of them in my area. Devi (Pure Vegetarian/South Indian restuarant) in Exton, PA (Devi- Authentic South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant- Exton) Himalayan (Regular Indian Restaurant serving Punjabi food) in Malvern, PA Taste of India in Wayne and Exton, PA Jaipuri Cuisine in King of Prussia, PA Cafe Spice (mdmenu) in Philadelphia, PA Udipi Dosa House in Bensalem, PA (Pure Veg/South Indian) Gateway to India, Frazer, PA. Karma, Philadelphia, PA (Karma Restaurant – Indian Restaurant Philadelphia) I would certainly rate Udipi and Devi as my favourites. I heard a lot of good things about Cafe Spice and Karma, but never got a chance to dine there. Please add more to the list and let us know how your dining experience was. -Vidya Last edited by vmur : 18th December 2007 at 01:42 PM.

Thanks Blondie for the prompt info. I have heard about Minerva and Saravana Palace, did not know about the others. Which restaurants are close to the constitution mall? Do any of them have websites? The reason I am asking is because a lot of us in and around DC drive for 4-5 hours to visit the White House and it's surroundings and we end up soo hungry and tired and crave for Indian food. It will be great if you can give us some information on that too. Thanks much, Vidya

| Vidya, Living in the suburbs of DC, I can very well understand the tourist woes regarding indian food options. But still recommend that if the trip is for sight seeing to stick to the cafeterias located in each and every museum. Because finding parking is a nightmare for newcomers/ occassional visitors in addition to the fear of being mugged\unknown, once you lose your spot, chances are you might not find another. and for those who prefer to take the metro, the below list might throw some light. There are no indian restaurents in the vicinity of the Mall. Some of the Deli's/eateries within the mall buildings are now offering the popular curry options, that is all. If the trip is for fun \ dining out \ theatre, then must visit the hugely popular and expensive Bombay Club which has the prestige of presidents and senators as regular customers. I would highly recommend Indique, an indo-french restaurent where the chef has created wonders. We had catered from them few times. The rest I just copied from tour of dc website. Washington, D.C. -- Restaurants -- By Type Of Food

Hi Blondie, That was a very exhaustive list. Thanks for putting so much effort to collect the details . Will keep these in mind and I think the other Indian tourists will find this information very useful too. Thanks a lot! Vidya

No problem Vidya, it was just a copy paste job (are you listening CharuKaur?) from the website given, didn't take any effort. I still stand by my recommendation of eating at the cafeterias in the museum buildings themselves when sight seeing. For the elderly parents with diet restrictions, better to pack from home, they all allow food from outside at the security check points.
