Dear Kadambari,
Welcome to Pittsburgh !!!
Its a beutiful place to live. During spring/summer the place will be so warm and u could see lot of greeny trees. As this is a hilly region, you can have lot of scenic spots. The cost of living is less when compared to NewYork or other major cities.
Monroeville is a holy place for us. We have "Sri Venkateswara Temple" at monroeville, which is some 16 miles from our place. Its one of the very famous temples in US. And you have a very big Indian Store called "Patel Brothers" where you can buy all the groceries and vegetables. We live in an apartment where u could see lot of Indians. As my husband works in Downtown , we chose this apartment as it is near to downtown.
And regarding winter, its a nice place to live....you wont have much snow fall or cold here. The temperature will go upto -25 to -30 in celcious, which u can manage with the heater at ur home. which is a must in all apartments.
The only negative point is you cannot live here without a Car, as there is no much Public Transport like NY/NJ. Its very limited. That too on weekends its very very limited. In week days u have lot of buses.
Let me know as soon as u reach pittsburgh....will try to help u for the initial set up of ur home....."ALL THE BEST"
