6 point ID for H4 to get Driving Licence

Hi

i am saritha, on H4
want a driving licence in NJ
i got international licence from india
Can someone Help me, what 6 point ID i can show for licence.

i think you need a State ID to get a driving license... u can get a state ID from the MVD office only

I had so much difficulty in getting learner's permit. I am in newyork and the rules here are so complicated.

To my knowledge u have to submit..

1. No denial letter from Social security office,as we r in dependant visa we will not be given SSN - this is given for only 1 month and if u dont go to DMV within that month then the letter will expire, u need to get another one from social security office.
2. Bank account proof
3. Utility bill that has ur name
4. Any identity card if u have
5. check cashing card from a super market

Also if u need further info, u can go to nearest DMV and get the form which has all the details reg the points to be submitted for getting a license.

The laws vary in each state. I guess members from NJ might be able to help u better.

I'm facing the same problem to get a license. Here, even to get a state ID, i need residency proof, which i don't have. They do not accept SSN denial letter here.
So, that makes it difficult for me to get a state ID, have a bank a/c & a driver's license!! Whew!

So complicated isn't it??

welcome to the group.i m frm plainfield ,NJ .moved here 6 months back frm ca.
the 6 point ids are:

1.indian passport with valid visa ,do carry ur husbands passport with valid visa too
2.ssn denial letter
3.health card thats ur insurance card
4.any debit card /atm check card
5.latest residence proof like bank statement with a date on it ,or utility bill
i think these will suffice for a DL.

is it ok to show the lease agreement as the address proff(i also signed in the lease agreement), i dont have any utilities on my name

as far as my knowledge is concerned i dont think u can open a bank account without ssn but yeah u can oppen a joint account where ur husband will be primary account holder n u secondary .....

U cud open a Joint account with ur husband, its not possible to open a new account only on ur name, so Joint account is better.
And as u have mentioned that u have signed in lease agreement, why dont u ask them to include ur name in utilities, if u talk to them that u need to add ur name in utility bill, they wud do.

Can i apply for SSN denial letter online? Just asking if it could be done :)
DMV is asking for SSN denial letter for the driver's license :( I don't have that and the office remains closed on saturday and sunday :((

ANY help from anyone is highly appreciated.
