Nandhu, i've not yet zeroed in on any doc. I've asked DH to ask around as well...Will let you know in a few weeks time once I finalize...

Btw, can I ask you something...might sound silly but still let me shoot because am confused..Why do most people here seem to go to Indian ob gyns alone? Is it because of the comfort level? Maybe not, because most of the reviews say they are curt and do not encourage questions...Or is it because there are more Indian ob gyns than those of other nationalities in NJ? Should an Indian doc be a factor in choosing your ob gyn? Am new to NJ, and to US as well, soo could you please enlighten me :)

Hi

I know that lot of Indians chose an Indian doc probably because they feel more comfortable with one...

If you don't have a problem talking english...n have no reservations about some other doc...i think that should work fine for you.

well! I was like you not too long ago....new in the US.
So i had to ask around for evrything ...n didnt have many friends....So I can imagine

anyway ! the factors to consider when choosing a doc
are....

will they answer your questions?
are they punctual?
how friendly is the office staff? { from my experience I can say that Indian office staff that are not very pleasant ...even if the doctor is:)}[ they should basically be professional]
is the practice close to your house or work place?
are they affiliated to a hospital in which your insurance is permissible....and the hospital shouldnt be too far for you

these are just a few ...will let you know more as I remember

oops, just saw the post.. shoooorrrry.

hmm.. why they go to Indian docs.. ofcourse comfort level. Even though there are -ve pointers here, those docs still survive and then it means, there are other people who are fine how they are handling the patients right? Also they go to them, because when you are into the period.. diet plays an important role and being indian, they easily understand our food I feel. For me, personally yeah I prefer my Gynec being an Indian only because of the above reason.

But.. But.. if I have my options open. If I meet a gynec(non-Indian) and I have that connection, I guess I will go with that person as well.

My cant-change choice is.. it should be a woman. I am not that ready enough to have a male gynec

hey Nandhu thanks buddy! i agree about the diet part. for now, i really don have an immediate long term need for a gyn, just want to go in for a gen check up, but don't mind selecting a couple of gyns.. reserved for later if need arises..

Sameeeeeeee here..i think i'll never feel at ease with a male gyn.. totally a personal preference.
