near & around chicago visiting places?

hi
last summer we covered downtown of chicago.
can anyone guide some visiting places near chicago to visit in this summer.
we just want to go around & enjoy thru local roads.

We have been to Chicago and around places quite a few times..You can visit the temples there..
Aurora, Lemont, Bartlett and Bahai temples...can go through local roads..
also the shirdi sai temples at aurora, and hampshire..good ones to visit..
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (which is a 1 hour drive from Chicago this we can go through local roads only)
Wisconsin Dells Water parks (which is a 3 to 4 hours drive from Chicago have to get onto free way..)

Bahai temple is looking nice.never heard about it.will go there
& the rest of the ones we went there.among those,lake Geneva is marvelous.
I love to visit there more & more times.
