About Penang

Hi can anybody tell me whether it is possible to own a car in Penang or is it good to have public transports only. Do we have public transports connected to all parts in Penang. I want to know about this becoz iam planning to shift to Penang and iam concerned about the finance. How much finance is required to buy a car and maintaining it and i also would like to know about the parking charges. I also would like to know about the cost of renting an apartment for a small family in a decent location.I would be really grateful if u can tell me all these details so that i can plan accordingly.
